  • haveged-related upgrade breakage: Kev discovered issue with upgrade scenario due to unattended-upgrades being very cautious with package removal. It refuses to remove the haveged package as dictated by the control file in securedrop-app-code.

Kushal has a PR in to remove it from the control file, which does mean that haveged is present and running on existing prod systems, even though we don't intend to use it. John is investigating options for removing the package.

Kev has pushed commit to disable haveged in preinst. Worst case scenario, we go with Kushal's fix and still have haveged running. Best case, we fully remove it safely. Second best, we disable it in preinst.

We'll have to do RC4 after that, which Kevin will aim to get done by EOD. May need to push release to Wednesday.
