FAQ : General
Back in the days when I was a territory servant, I often use to phrase "Map out the territory" when I am assigned to survey a territory. I wanted a name that would reflect this particular responsibility of the territory servant while being short, easy to say and not already taken.
MM is a web-based application, thus it is deployed in the internet.
Short answer, yes.
Please refer to the deployment instructions here.
I do not wish to deploy this application on my own but I am still interested in using it. How can I do so?
MM team operates a hosted environment for any congregation to use.
Please contact me for more information.
The following excerpt is taken from the revised 2022 PDPC guidelines.
The most basic requirement for data to constitute personal data is that it is information about an identifiable individual. There are two principal considerations. First, is the purpose of information to be data about an individual or which relates to the individual. Examples include information about an individual’s health, educational and employment background, as well as an individual’s activities such as spending patterns. There will be situations where the personal data is incidental to the purpose of the information. For example, an internal investigations report that incidentally includes names and appointments of key actors involved in the incident under investigations. The content of individuals’ communications, such as email messages and text messages, in and of themselves will generally not be considered personal data, unless they contain information about an individual that can identify the individual.
Second, the individual should be identifiable from the data. However, not all data that relates to an individual may identify the individual. For example, a residential address could also relate to another individual who resides there, and it may not be possible to identify a specific individual from the residential address. Data constitutes personal data if it is data about an individual who can be identified from that data on its own, or from that data and other information to which the organisation has or is likely to have access. For example, a mailing list of email addresses may not be personal data on its own, but if the list contains customer IDs that can be linked to records in the Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) system, then the list may be considered personal data.
MM tracks properties by address and type which in itself does not make the householder identifiable. Therefore, the use of MM does not breach any personal data laws.
However, publishers are strongly reminded not to include any personal details of the householder under the notes of every property.
It is free for use for now until further notice.
There are many layers of security to ensure that MM is secure to use. However, users have a shared responsibility for the security of their accounts and slips.
The MM engine is powered by Firebase which is backed by Google and trusted by millions of businesses around the world.
Being backed by Google, Firebase operates under the Google Cloud Platform umbrella which is known for its reliability.
Google guarantees a running uptime of 99.5% for its Firebase platform.
System outages are common even among the most reliable websites in the internet.
Therefore, it is not possible for any digital platforms to guarantee a 100% uptime.
However, outages often do not last very long. So in the event of a failure, congregations have the following options available while system is brought back up again.
- Take a break
- Informal Witnessing
- Return Visits
No.
In the event of a failure, the database will likely be inaccessible but its data will remain intact.
Systems are in place to ensure that your data is backup on a regular basis.
In the worst case scenario, our administrators will restore your records based on the last backed up data.
