check-and-clip to [0,1] in linear_rescale to protect against floating point errors that sometimes occur on GPUs. #526

Alternative to #524, hopefully fixing the test errors. (Which were due to no longer having the right gradient when t == t0 or t == t1). CC @mattlevine22 .
