User Interface Guide

This guide provides a detailed overview of Infoscava's user interface, helping you navigate and utilize its features efficiently.


1. Main Application Window

Infoscava features a clean and intuitive tabbed interface. On the left side, you'll find an integrated file browser for easy file navigation. The main area on the right is dedicated to various analysis tabs, allowing you to switch between different views of your loaded file.

2. Theme Toggle

Infoscava allows you to switch between a Light and Dark theme to suit your preference and working environment.

3. File Loading & Navigation

Infoscava simplifies file loading through its integrated file browser, support for drag-and-drop functionality, and a dedicated "Browse File" button.

  • Integrated File Browser: Easily navigate your file system within the application's left panel.
  • Browse File Button: A dedicated button allows you to open a standard file selection dialog to choose files for analysis.
  • Drag-and-Drop Support: Load files for analysis by simply dragging them from your file explorer and dropping them onto the Infoscava window.

4. Analysis Tabs

The central area of the application features various tabs, each offering a distinct analytical view of the loaded file.

Individual Analysis Tabs

Here's a breakdown of each analysis tab:

a. Metadata

Displays file system metadata and various calculated hashes.

b. Text

Presents the file's content as readable text with encoding options.

c. Hex

Provides a raw hexadecimal and encoded representation of the file's bytes.

d. Structured Data

Parses and displays JSON content in a structured.

e. Image (Image Analysis)

Extracts and displays detailed EXIF and GPS metadata from image files.

f. Base64

Encodes file content into Base64.

g. Entropy

Visualizes the randomness or unpredictability of the file's data.

h. Byte Histogram

Displays a graphical distribution of all byte values in the file.

i. Search (Additional Search Tab)

Offers advanced search functionality with multi-match highlighting and navigation.

j. Dynamic Plugin (Dynamic Plugin Tabs)

Custom tabs generated by loaded plugins to display their specific analysis results.

k. Plugin History

Logs all plugin-related activities, including loading, execution, and more.
