Click **New scanner** on the Replay Vision page. Depending on your project, the first screen is either a grid of templates with a **Set up with AI** box below it, or a **What should the scanner find out?** page with a goal box, a monthly budget, and one-click starting points. Both offer the same three ways in: describe a goal, start from a common question, or **Create from scratch**.

If you don't have any scanners yet, the [What to watch](/docs/replay-vision/what-to-watch) tab also offers a quickstart path: one tap creates a **Session highlights** summarizer that immediately scans up to 25 recent recordings, so you see results within minutes. See [when the feed is empty or stale](/docs/replay-vision/what-to-watch#when-the-feed-is-empty-or-stale) for details.

## When the feed is empty
## When the feed is empty or stale

An empty feed tells you why, and what to do about it:
The feed adapts to your project's scanner state, showing the most helpful information and actions for each situation.

### No scanners yet

If you haven't created any scanners, the feed walks you through getting started:

1. Click the quickstart button to create **Session highlights** – a free summarizer scanner that reads each new recording and surfaces the ones worth watching.
2. Confirm the scope and cost in a one-tap card.
3. The scanner immediately bulk-scans up to 25 of your most recent eligible recordings, so first results appear within minutes.

A running header shows progress during this initial scan. It survives page refreshes and settles after three minutes without progress. Once complete, the feed shows your first picks.

Free credits are the default. If your organization's free credits are exhausted, the setup prompts for a monthly budget with presets of 1,000, 2,500, or 5,000 credits.

### Scanners exist, but no picks yet

When you have scanners but they haven't surfaced any picks in the current window, the feed shows how many scanners are running and when they last swept. A **Scan the last 7 days now** button lets you backfill: pick a scanner, see a live count of matching recordings and the estimated credit cost, then start.

### Stale picks

When your scanners have picks but they're all viewed or older than two days, the feed explains why and what to do:

| State | What it means | What you can do |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Caught up** | Your scanners processed recent recordings and nothing new stood out. | Wait for new sessions, or widen your date range. |
| **Quiet week** | Few recordings matched recently. The feed shows counts of what was scanned. | Click **Show the newest results anyway** to see them below the ranked rows. |
| **Drought after an edit** | A scanner's config was changed but it hasn't matched anything since. | Run a 7-day backfill or review the scanner's filters. |
| **Capped** | One or more scanners hit their credit limit for this billing period. | Raise the limit inline to resume scanning. |
| **All disabled** | Every scanner is turned off. | Toggle individual scanners back on with the switches shown. |
| **Credits used up** | Your organization's Replay Vision credits are exhausted. | Wait for the period to reset or raise the limit. See [quota and limits](/docs/replay-vision/quota-and-limits). |

### Other empty states

- **No scanners yet** – the tab explains the feed with example cards and offers **Create your first scanner**.
- **Your Replay Vision credits are used up for this period** – scans are skipped until the period resets or you raise the limit. See [quota and limits](/docs/replay-vision/quota-and-limits).
- **None of your scanners are running** – every scanner is turned off. Turn one on and its clips appear after the next matching recording.
- **Every running scanner has reached its own credit limit** – they stop scanning until the period resets. Raise a scanner's limit to start it again. Sessions they skipped aren't scanned later.
- **No clips match these filters in this window** – loosen your filters or click **Clear filters**.
- **Nothing stood out in this window** – try a longer date range.

### Default column and refreshing

The **What to watch** column opens by default on first visit, even when empty. After two empty visits without interaction, it switches back to **All recordings** as the default. Tapping **All recordings** or **What to watch** is remembered.

Picks reload automatically when you focus the window after being away for a minute or more. If the feed fails to load, a centered **Retry** button lets you try again.
