Summary

The block-sparse d256 forward (kernels/sm107/sparse_d256_f16.py) carried no griddepcontrol site, so the gated attention block's
use_pdl switch was a typed decline under a QsaSpec geometry and the block-sparse decode chain never overlapped at its attention
link. This PR lands the sites and serves the switch -- a knob: the same kernels, the same math, out / O / LSE / the pools
bitwise the plain chain eagerly and under capture. Two commits:

  1. The sites and the switch -- the sparse core's per-role griddepcontrol.wait sites, the launch attribute on the core and its split
    combine, use_pdl=True served under QsaSpec (the caller-list sparse chain), thd=True x the switch a typed decline by name.
  2. The trigger at completion -- the first measurement of commit 1 (below) lost 3.2-4.4 us per step at B <= 4 with the device span
    NOT longer: the core released its dependents right after its init sync, so the split combine's CTAs sat resident through the whole
    mainloop and, once the core completed, took 7.4-7.9 us to finish 2.75 us of work. The prologue release is deleted: a CTA that never
    executes griddepcontrol.launch_dependents counts as released when it exits, so the dependent grid launches at the core's completion
    through the programmatic edge. Every role's wait, the barrier table, the SMEM and TMEM budgets are unchanged; the knob stays bitwise.

The measured decision (the Measured section, Rubin cc 10.7 performance class, 212 SMs): the SHIP bar passed -- the switched chain is
faster on 13 / 13 B <= 4 cells by >= +1 % (+2.6 % geomean; +2.2 % over all 19 cells), no cell loses beyond its control band, ON == OFF
bitwise on every cell -- so the switch ships as a served explicit knob. The DEFAULT-FLIP bar (>= 1.0 us AND >= 5 % at both B 1 x 8K and
B 1 x 32K) is not met (B 1 x 8K: 0.80 us / +2.1 %; B 1 x 32K: 1.54 us / +4.1 %), so the AUTO reading stays off on the sparse
form: SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS is empty, cc 10.7 does not enter it, and no commit on this branch flips it.

  • The kernel (python/cudnn/sdpa/fwd/kernels/sm107/sparse_d256_f16.py): use_pdl, a compile-time kernel argument (appended last)
    and the launch attribute (the host entry under the same flag; compile(use_pdl=) in the key). Under the programmatic-stream-
    serialization attribute the grid may start while its predecessor still writes the slab, the pools, the block list, the lengths and
    the table, so EVERY global read of a predecessor's output sits below a griddepcontrol.wait of the reading role and no global write
    sits above one: the TMA warp waits before the prologue's ids bulk copy and Q^T box; the gather warps before their first _item_bounds
    (the lengths / counts), the block-table lookups and the K / V gathers; the MMA warp after its TMEM allocation, hand-off and descriptor
    builds, before _item_bounds; the softmax warps after the TMEM hand-off, before _item_bounds and every store. No explicit release
    anywhere (commit 2): the dependent grid is released by the CTA's exit, i.e. at the core's completion. The scheduler warp reads
    nothing global on the CLC form and the spare warp exits: no wait there. The module header's PDL SITES paragraph enumerates every
    global read per role and records the placement's measurement by node class. The barrier table (18 rows), every init count, ring
    depth, SMEM buffer and TMEM column are unchanged
    -- the sites are per-thread grid-dependency instructions, not mbarrier operations --
    and the use_pdl=False rendering traces the program as before. The pre-dispatch prologue holds ONE global read above every role
    wait: the THD form's exit_if_dead_thd_cluster reads the setup launch's live-unit total (and its scheduler the claim counter) --
    values the kernel launched right before this one writes -- so THD x use_pdl is a typed decline by name; the switch's scope is
    the dense BSHD and paged decode chain.
  • The adapter (python/cudnn/sdpa/fwd/sparse_gqa_sm107.py): use_pdl (the flag the previous PR appended and declined) is served --
    the kernel compiled with the switch in its key and launched with the attribute, the split combine's entry with its pair
    (compile_ptr(use_pdl=)); thd=True with use_pdl=True is the typed decline, naming the metadata read above the role waits.
    pdl_decline_reason(thd=) is the ONE statement of that fact: check_support raises it verbatim and the block's declaration-time
    decline carries it -- the two sites are pinned equal by both suites, so neither text drifts alone when the kernel's PDL scope moves.
  • The block (python/cudnn/gated_attention_block/api.py): the PDL decline's no QsaSpec clause is dropped (the pinned prefix
    use_pdl=True is served for the bf16 / f16 block only and the no e4m3 KV cache clause survive: the quantized pipelines and the e4m3
    pools under QsaSpec stay typed declines); use_pdl=True with thd=True on a QsaSpec geometry is declined at declaration with the
    adapter's statement (pdl_decline_reason). Under QsaSpec(index_source="indexer") (the in-block indexer, merged meanwhile) the
    explicit True stays a typed decline by name under the same prefix
    : the indexer's stages thread the block's resolved switch into
    their own kernels' compile keys (the paged step, the scorer, the top-k), and that switched chain is not what was measured here -- the
    measured chain is the caller-list block + band -- so the stage is only ever handed False (the existing pins of the indexer suites
    hold). The AUTO reading answers for the same domain: _pdl_default's sparse arm requires the caller-list form
    (index_source != "indexer"), so no future entry in the measured-parts tuple flips an indexer block through the back door (pinned by a
    cell that patches the tuple to the part: the indexer block resolves False, the caller-list block True). _SparseSdpa takes use_pdl (appended) and hands it to the adapter, so pdl_stages names sdpa_sparse and
    use_pdl_effective reads True on the switched sparse chain. _pdl_default gains the sparse arm BEHIND SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS,
    an empty tuple of measured parts: a part enters it only with a measurement that meets the flip bar (the measured-default rule of
    DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS); an explicit value wins. serving_envelope(): decode.pdl_stages = DECODE_PDL_STAGES on the caller-list sparse
    form too (the four stage kinds; the sparse core + its combine are the sdpa kind) and () under the indexer, decode.pdl_default read
    off the sparse tuple under sparse_core (never True under the indexer).
  • Docs and the tracker: docs/fe-oss-apis/gated_attention_block.md (the decode form's PDL paragraph and the use_pdl row: the sparse
    chain served, bitwise eagerly and under capture, its AUTO reading -- pdl_default read off the sparse tuple under the block-sparse
    mode --, the THD and the indexer declines, the trigger placement); SUPPORT_MATRIX_TRACKER.md (the knob sentence of the serving-forms
    section). A knob: no Capabilities field and no EngineSpec moves.

Barrier audit

Audited before and after the sites, and again after commit 2, against the mbarrier rules (the issuing-lane ledger of every row:
SUM(issuing lanes) == init_count, then the per-rule checks): the 18-row table is unchanged -- 20 arrive sites, 26 wait sites, 17 init
sites, 5 scheduler credits before and after, every sum equal to its init constant (ONE_LANE, SOFTMAX_LANES 256, KV_FULL_ARRIVERS 8,
IDS_EMPTY_ARRIVERS 16, READ_TILE_ARRIVERS 18, the named barriers 288 / 128, barrier 0 at 640), the init block single-warp AND
elect-gated with the fence and the CTA sync outside, every drain on its carried state. The PDL sites add no arrive, wait, init or stage;
each is a straight-line const_expr arm at the top of its role before the role's first barrier operation; commit 2 removes the one
release and adds nothing. Verdict PASS, 0 findings, every pass. The RED half of the evidence is the detector below.

Tests

  • test_sdpa_fwd_sparse_sm107.py: use_pdl served on the dense / paged decode forms and the prefill form, thd x use_pdl declined
    by name; the source pins (the pair imported, four role waits, NO explicit release -- the placement of commit 2 --, each wait a
    const_expr arm, the constexpr threaded kernel -> roles / host -> launch, compile(use_pdl=) in the key, the THD exit above the role
    waits, no new barrier / tile / ring wait); the compile_ptr switch and the kernel's compile key recorded under a stub for both values.
    Rubin: the PDL arm bitwise the plain arm on O and LSE over the decode cells of the pinned combine forms and the prefill form.
  • test_block_qsa_decode.py: a use_pdl axis on the case; PDL on vs off bitwise (out, the gated O slot, the LSE, the pools)
    on six ladder rows (bf16 / f16 pools, the shared and the per-row form, splits 1 / 2 / 4 / 17 / default, the fused gate and the
    launch, the 24 / 2 geometry), a second switched step bitwise; the AUTO reading False on the sparse form with the tuple empty and True
    with it patched to a listed part (the arm exists behind the tuple), the envelope's pdl_stages / pdl_default on the sparse form;
    the e4m3-pool, the THD and the indexer declines pinned by name; the census under the switch = the plain chain's kernel list; the
    capture of the FIRST execute of a fresh switched declaration on a new stream with no warm-up under set_sync_debug_mode("error")
    -- the capture launches nothing, the replay bitwise the eager plain chain and the eager switched chain, stable over 50 replays;
    the detector of a late wait -- a primary that releases its dependent at once and writes the slab, the K pool, the block list or
    the lengths late, ahead of the standalone switched core: GREEN with the shipped kernel (every operand, two spins), and RED on every
    operand at the longest spin with the core's waits swapped for a no-op and the kernel retraced (the detector's sensitivity).
  • test_block_serving_pdl.py: the sparse decline pin INVERTED (the explicit True served with sdpa_sparse among the switched
    stages, AUTO False, the band block alike); the e4m3 cache's, the QuantSpec's, the packed form's and the indexer's declines by name.
  • test_qsa_prepare.py: the fused-prepare cell's band branch follows the served form -- the caller-list band with
    fuse_prepare=True, use_pdl=True is accepted and use_pdl reaches both slot recipes, as the dense branch pins.

Measured

The switch's performance gate on the head of this PR (commit 2: the trigger at completion): use_pdl=True against the plain chain
(use_pdl=False, the same tree) and against vLLM's QSA layer, on a 212-SM Rubin cc 10.7 GPU at the 2376 MHz lock, the caller-list
block + the 640-column band GEMM, fuse_gate=True, page 16, bf16 pools, the default split (16 on the B <= 4 x S_q 1 cells). The +idx
column adds the stack-side indexer rows (vLLM's own census time of its prepare + scorer + top-k, conservative) to the FROST block +
band, so the vLLM column and the FROST column cover the same work.

Geomean of the lever (PDL OFF / PDL ON - 1): +2.2 % over the 19 measured cells, +2.6 % over the 13 B <= 4 cells, +1.5 % over the B 32
cells
(+1.8 % on the T 128 cells, where the core runs unsplit and no combine is launched). vLLM vs FROST +idx: geomean -11.5 % (PDL ON)
/ -12.7 % (PDL OFF) over the seven cells marked [Q], -10.8 % / -12.3 % over all 19 cells. The dense decode form on the identity cell,
same GPU and regime: PDL on 36.4 us vs off 37.9 us (+4.1 %), the instrument's control.

Where the time goes (one profiled replay per slot, every kernel's device start / end stamp): the core -> combine link that carried
the first measurement's loss now reads the combine starting 0.12 us after the core's end (median; with the prologue release it sat
resident 5-6 us BEFORE it, spinning) and finishing 3.20 us after the core's end against 3.47 us for the plain chain's combine (with the
prologue release: +1.7 us over the plain chain); 8 of 16 processes with a combine launch read the link within the fix's pin (lead in
[-0.5, +0.3] us, increment within 0.3 us of the plain chain's), the rest within 0.5 us.

The first measurement (commit 1 alone, the release in the core's prologue; same class, same protocol, an earlier head of develop)
read the switched chain SLOWER: the lever -5.8 % geomean over the 13 B <= 4 cells (-10.6 % .. -0.1 %), +2.2 .. +2.4 % only on the three
T 128 cells, with the device span NOT longer (36.86 vs 38.14 us) -- the loss sat on the core -> combine link (the combine released at the
core's start, resident and spinning, finishing 1.66 us later after the core's end than the plain chain's). That table is superseded by
the one above; it is what commit 2 answers.

Caption: 212 SMs at the 2376 MHz lock (busy samples 2364.0 MHz, the part's under-load reading, identical across arms), one exclusive GPU
of the Rubin cc 10.7 performance class, the HBM term against that GPU's measured copy pin 13030.8 GB/s (never the datasheet); CUDA-graph
REPLAY (vLLM's decode regime), every arm of a cell in ONE process, interleaved, A/B/A x 3 rounds x 100 iterations, slots shuffled per
iteration, CUDA events, per-round medians, 40 % duty. The control pair (the switched arm measured twice): |pair| <= 0.34 % on 18 of
the 19 cells (band = max(|pair|, 1 %)); on the identity cell it read -1.4 % (-1.15 / -1.62 / -1.41 % on three processes -- the
first-built arm of that cell's five-arm table carries a fixed offset against its own twin, not noise), so that row's band is 1.41 %, its
lever +2.0 % is read against that band and is conservative; the row is kept, not re-run away. The oracle gates at the suites' own
constants on every timed arm (cos(out) > 0.999, gated O within 2e-2, two launches bitwise on every FROST arm, the vLLM arm's selection
exact vs its own reference), never widened; the per-kernel census from torch.profiler over 5 replays per slot, the attribution from the
PDL-OFF arm only (a dependent's spin before its wait is charged to it under PDL); power-cap counters delta 0 and Xid unchanged on every
process. vLLM = SM100-family code untuned for cc 10.7 (vllm 0.32.0 QSA kernels verbatim, its own CUDA top-k; Triton 3.8.0); stand-ins:
none. On the S_q 4 cells vLLM selects per row while the FROST shared list applies row 0 (a function difference, recorded; the admission
gate is each arm's own fp32 oracle). Speed-ups POSITIVE base / new - 1, the minus sign kept. The plain chain's output is bitwise the
switched chain's on every cell.

Verdict. The SHIP bar (the lever >= +1 % on every B <= 4 cell, no cell beyond its control band, the dense identity control a gain):
PASS -- 13 / 13 B <= 4 cells at +1.2 % .. +4.1 %, 0 / 19 cells beyond their band, the control +4.1 %; this bar decides that the switch
ships, as a served explicit knob. The DEFAULT-FLIP bar (>= 1.0 us AND >= 5 % at B 1 x 8K AND B 1 x 32K): NOT MET -- B 1 x 8K 0.80 us /
+2.1 %, B 1 x 32K 1.54 us / +4.1 %; this bar decides the default: SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS stays empty, the AUTO reading stays
off on the sparse form, use_pdl=True is served as the explicit switch, bitwise the plain form.

Review notes

  • Rules checked: execute validates and launches only (Rules 1 / 3); the switch is a plan-time compile key, nothing compiles on the
    execute path (Rule 4); every torch operation on the handed stream (Rule 5); the DSL version gate before the kernel import (Rule 7);
    a knob -- the same function under either value -- so no Capabilities field moves (Rule S2) and the sparse record is untouched; the
    decline texts the suites pin were grepped first (the prefix and the no e4m3 KV cache token survive; the indexer's decline carries
    the prefix); the THD x use_pdl text has ONE source (pdl_decline_reason), raised by the adapter and carried by the block, pinned
    equal in both suites.
  • The dependent's correctness never depends on where the release sits: griddepcontrol.wait blocks on the primary's full completion
    and memory flush. The placement is a performance choice; the waits are the correctness surface, and the detector cells are what
    turns a missing one red. The two measurements above are the placement's evidence: the prologue release lost 3-4 us per step on the
    core -> combine link, the completion trigger gains 0.45-2.2 us on every cell.
  • The THD decline names a measured fact, not an asserted limit: the pre-dispatch read of the setup launch's metadata is in the source
    (exit_if_dead_thd_cluster, the claim-counter scheduler), above any role wait by construction.

Open items

  • The default flip waits for the flip bar (>= 1.0 us AND >= 5 % at B 1 x 8K and B 1 x 32K) on a measured part: today's lever is
    +2.1 % / +4.1 % there. What would move it is below the knob, not in it: the remaining link overheads of the four-node programmatic
    graph (norm + RoPE -> cache write -> core -> combine) and the per-kernel fixed costs of the chain.
  • The in-block indexer under the switch (QsaSpec(index_source="indexer")): declined by name (and AUTO pinned False there,
    whatever the tuple holds) until its own switched chain (the paged step, the scorer, the top-k carrying the pair) is measured against
    the plain one on the same protocol.
  • A PDL pair across the end-to-end sparse step's scorer -> top-k -> core links (the kernels carry the sites; the switch is what the item
    above measures).

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change, programmatic dependent launch (PDL) on the block-sparse decode chain, and it matches the changeset. The title is long, at 189 characters, and it carries implementation detail such as the griddepcontrol sites and the bitwise claim. It is still specific and on-topic, so it passes.

Explanation

The description follows the repository template. It covers the summary, the rationale, the measured results, the test tables, and the open items. The template sections for Before submitting, Affected area, Related issues, and API and compatibility impact are missing or empty. The Testing section is filled in under a different heading. The required checklist items, such as pre-commit, labels, and the AGENTS.md review, are not ticked. The content is thorough, so the check passes with a note on the missing template parts.

Geomean of the lever (PDL OFF / PDL ON - 1): -3.9 % over the 19 measured cells, -5.8 % over the B <= 4 cells, +0.4 % over the B 32 cells. vLLM vs FROST +idx geomean -17.6 % (PDL ON) / -14.0 % (PDL OFF) over the quick-gate seven, -16.0 % / -13.4 % over all 19 cells.

Where the time goes (one profiled replay per slot, every kernel's device start / end stamp): on the device the switched chain is NOT slower -- first-kernel-start to last-kernel-end 36.86 us vs 38.14 us for the plain chain (median; paired -1.15 us), the dependents resident before their primaries end as designed (the combine from the core's start, the cache write during the norm + RoPE pass, the out-projection GEMM during the combine). The loss sits outside the kernels: timed step minus device span = 4.64 us on the switched chain against 1.57 us on the plain one (medians; 3.09 us more, 3.23 us over the B <= 4 pairs) -- the graph whose four extra kernel nodes carry programmatic edges (norm + RoPE, cache write, core, combine) starts its first kernel later (or retires later) than the plain graph, by several times what the sites buy inside it; a per-stage A/B (internal stage pokes, not the public knob) puts the loss on the sparse core's switch (the core + its combine), the norm + RoPE / cache-write half alone reading like the plain chain. The dense decode form on the identity cell, same node and regime, reads PDL on 34.5 us vs off 35.7 us (+3.3 %): a gain -- the regression is specific to the switched sparse chain's graph (structurally: the core releases its dependents above its own waits where the dense tile releases below; a separate cache-write launch under the attribute; four programmatic nodes against three), not to PDL on this part.

Caption: 212 SMs @ 2376 MHz lock (busy samples 2364 MHz, the part's under-load reading, identical across arms), one exclusive GPU of the Rubin cc 10.7 performance class, HBM term against that GPU's measured-here copy pin 13153.4 GB/s (never the datasheet); the tree = this PR's head (stacked on the form-pin PR, both on develop's in-block-indexer merge; the extension built for that develop commit, the binding-source detector non-empty across the stack's base, so the matching build was taken); CUDA-graph REPLAY (vLLM's decode regime), every arm of a cell in ONE process, interleaved, A/B/A x 3 rounds x 100 iterations, slots shuffled per iteration, CUDA events, per-round medians, 40 % duty; the control pair (the switched arm twice) within 1 % on every quoted process (band = max(|pair|, 1 %)); the oracle gates at the suites' own constants on every timed arm (cos(out) > 0.999, gated O within 2e-2, two launches bitwise on every FROST arm, the vLLM arm's selection exact vs its own reference), never widened; the per-kernel census from torch.profiler over 5 replays per slot, the attribution from the pdl-OFF arm only (a dependent's spin before its wait is charged to it under PDL); cap counters delta 0 and Xid 0 -> 0 on every process. vLLM = SM100-family code untuned for cc 10.7 (vllm 0.32.0 QSA kernels verbatim, its own CUDA top-k; Triton 3.8.0); stand-ins: none. +idx = the FROST block + the stack-side band GEMM + vLLM's own census time of its prepare + scorer + top-k (conservative: prepare's main half double-counted). Speed-ups POSITIVE base / new - 1, the minus sign kept. The plain chain's output is bitwise the switched chain's on every cell.

Verdict against the bar (>= 1 % at B <= 4 with the pair within 1 %; no cell beyond its control band -- the T 128 guard): FAIL -- the switched chain reads -10.6 % .. -0.1 % (-4.38 .. -0.03 us) on the 13 B <= 4 cells (10 of them beyond their control band: every S_q 1 cell and the B 1 x S_q 4 cells, by 3.2-4.4 us at S_q 1; none at +1 %), -2.2 % .. -1.0 % at B 32 x S_q 1, +2.2 % .. +2.4 % on the T 128 cells; every pair within 0.91 %; 12 of 19 cells beyond their band; the switched chain's step also wanders round to round (per-round spread up to 2.3 % on the ON slot vs 0.4 % on the plain chain). The AUTO default does not flip on this evidence (cc (10, 7) stays out of SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS); the explicit switch stays a served, bitwise knob -- consistent with the PR as pushed, which makes no performance claim. Owed before the switch can default on: the launch-side gap (a per-stage A/B of the four programmatic nodes, the core's release placement) on the same protocol.

Rebased onto develop @ c2903d7 (the indexer-band small-M route, #1754, squash-merged) to clear the conflict in test_block_qsa_decode.py: both that merge and this branch append test sections at the end of the module (they share one graph-capture block), so the resolution keeps both -- the band-tile tests first, this branch's PDL tests after. The two commits are otherwise unchanged (git range-diff: the second patch identical, the first differs only in that test module); the same files; black clean. New head 27878781a (previous 0e70fd7f5). Still a draft: its gate on an exclusive 212-SM part and the body rewrite for the completion-trigger placement are pending.

… the pools -- QsaSpec(index_source="indexer") on the block-sparse decode mode, the paged compress step / scorer / top-k and the sparse core in ONE execute; fuse_prepare lifted there (#1789)

On `develop`: the five base PRs are merged (#1754, #1762, #1756, #1758, #1755, each with its review follow-ups), so this PR carries only
its own four commits over `develop`. #1763 (programmatic dependent launch on the sparse chain, a draft) is NOT a base: `use_pdl=True` on the
sparse chain keeps its existing typed decline here. The commits: C1 (`QsaSpec.index_list_form` declarable at every `S_q`), C2 (the binding +
the tracker + the docs, one commit per Rule S2), C3 (the measured `fuse_prepare` default on cc 10.7) and one follow-up commit from the review
of the restacked branch (the DSL-free home of the prepare arms' record; the admissibility-aware AUTO reading of `fuse_prepare` -- see below).

## Summary

The block-sparse DECODE mode (`kv_source="paged"` on a `QsaSpec` geometry) now derives the step's selection ITSELF when the
geometry declares `index_source="indexer"`: a new stage `_IndexerDecode` (`qsa_indexer`) in the indexer's slot between the
prepare / write-through and the sparse core runs, inside the block's ONE `execute`,

1. the indexer-query norm + RoPE (the pool-1 compress of the band's query columns; under `fuse_prepare=True` an arm of the
   prepare launch) -- bitwise the prefill form's,
2. the ring / block-compress step over the PAGED compressed-key cache (`frost_qsa_compress_step`'s paged form; likewise fused into
   the prepare launch): every committed row's raw key into the ring at `pos % cap`, the row completing a 4-token block pools the
   block's four keys into its cache row -- bitwise the prefill compress of the same keys,
3. the paged scorer (`cudnn_block_qsa_score_paged`, #1758) over each row's visible complete blocks through the block table
   (`counts` = the visible count, `block_lens_out = min(top_k, counts)`),
4. the decode top-k (`cudnn_qsa_topk_decode`, #1755; canonical descending ids, `-1` past the count) into `block_ids_out` or the workspace,
5. the sparse core over the pools on the per-row list (`index_list_form="per_row"`, the only form here).

`fuse_prepare` is lifted on the block-sparse decode mode (the indexer form AND the caller-list band form -- the raw-key pool arm):
`None` is the MEASURED default (`SPARSE_INDEXER_FUSE_PREPARE_DEFAULT_CCS = ((10, 7),)` since the gate below). On cc 10.7 the indexer's
decode step reads True where the fused form is admissible -- the in-place pipeline (`inplace_qkv=True`), no `fuse_norm_rope`, no `thd`, a
paged write-through, a RoPE'd indexer key -- and False (the unfused twin) otherwise, never True where an explicit True is declined; every
other part and the caller-list band form read False until measured there. The two readings are bitwise; the dense-geometry DECODE form
keeps its decline.

## Contract and envelope (append-only)

- Constructor tail: `sample_index_kv_cache [n_pages, P / 4, 1, 128]` (the paged compressed-key cache: page `block_table[b, j // (P / 4)]`,
  row `j % (P / 4)`; page 0 the null page), `sample_index_state_cache [blocks, cap >= S_q + 3, 1, 128]` (the position-indexed ring of raw
  indexer keys; block 0 the null block), `sample_index_state_block_table [B, 1]` int32 -- REQUIRED on the form, refused off it by name;
  `index_state_slot_mapping_present` (the ring's write rows from `execute(index_state_slot_mapping=)`, `block x cap + pos % cap`, `-1`
  dead, `slot_mapping`'s dtype), `index_commit_present` (`True` = a typed follow-up), `rope_position_tables_only` (fused only: `cos` /
  `sin` refused, the launch rotates from the position tables at the device-derived position); `fuse_prepare: Optional[bool] = None`.
- Execute tail: `index_kv_cache`, `index_state_cache`, `index_state_block_table`, `index_state_slot_mapping`, `cos_pos` / `sin_pos`
  (`[1 or B, >= max_pages x P, rope_dim]`: the table is the CEILING on positions; one row short is a `ValueError` naming the bound
  before any stage runs), `n_commit` (refused). `block_ids` / `block_lens`, `index_k_raw` (the raw key lives in the ring) and
  `index_k_compressed` (the cache is paged) are refused by name; `block_ids_out` / `block_lens_out` hand the selection back.
- Workspace: five slots appended at the carve's END (`ix_q`, the fp32 logits `[T, max_pages x P / 4]`, the counts, the ids, the
  compressed-slot report); no plan constant, allocation or host read on the execute path -- the FIRST execute of a fresh declaration
  captures into a CUDA graph with no warm-up.
- `DecodeEnvelope` (appended): `index_sources`, `index_cache_dtypes`, `index_head_dims`, `index_kv_heads`, `index_block_sizes`,
  `index_top_k_range`, `index_query_rows_max` (64 = `S_q x next_pow2(index_heads)`), `index_state_rows_extra` (3), `index_page_sizes`
  (16 / 32 / 64 / 128), `fuse_prepare_default` (the part's measured reading; a declaration's AUTO resolves it only where the fused form is
  admissible); `kv_cache_dtypes` narrows to the activation dtype under the indexer. Decline rows, each raised with the text the envelope
  publishes and ONE shared token: `indexer_query_rows`, `indexer_page_size`, `indexer_e4m3_cache`, `indexer_e4m3_pool`,
  `indexer_shared_list`, `fuse_prepare_rope_tables_unfused` (+ `indexer_f16`, `indexer_head_dim`, `indexer_thd`, `shared_list_rows`
  published on the decode envelope).
- Rule 9: one FE contract -- a serving stack declares the same block and reads the envelope's rows; nothing engine-specific leaks.
  Rule 7: the kernel modules are imported at plan time behind the DSL floor (`qsa_topk.qsa_topk_decode_kernel_module()`,
  `qsa_score_paged.dsl_decline_reason`, the paged scorer's and top-k's own gates; `_IndexerDecode` takes the top-k's default knobs
  through `default_knobs_for`, so the cluster form's 4.8.0 floor from #1755 applies unchanged); a DECLARATION imports no kernel module --
  the prepare arms' record `QsaPrepareIndexArms` is read from the DSL-free `cache_write_contract.py` (the follow-up commit); the ring rule
  is spelled DSL-free in the api and drift-checked at plan time.

## The follow-up commit (after the restack)

- Rule 7: the declaration under `fuse_prepare` imported `kernels/qsa_prepare.py` (the CuTe DSL at module scope) for the
  `QsaPrepareIndexArms` record, so on a sub-floor DSL the constructor died inside `cudnn.frost.tile_dsl` instead of raising the stage's
  typed version decline. The record (a NamedTuple of ints / bools) and the one definition of its `pool` default (`DEFAULT_POOL`) now live
  in the DSL-free `gated_attention_block/cache_write_contract.py`; `kernels/qsa_prepare.py` and `kernels/qsa_compress.py` import and
  re-export both names, so every kernel-side import path is unchanged. Detector: `core/test_import_boundaries.py` declares the indexer
  decode block on CPU samples under an explicit `fuse_prepare=True` and under the measured default (the cc patched to 10.7) and asserts
  `kernels.qsa_prepare`, `kernels.qsa_compress`, `kernels.cache_write` and `cudnn.frost.tile_dsl` absent (RED before the fix); a second
  cell models the public 4.6.2 wheel and gets the typed `NotImplementedError` naming 4.7.0 / 4.6.2 from `check_support`, the kernel module
  never imported.
- The AUTO reading of `fuse_prepare` resolved True on every indexer-decode declaration of a measured part and ran that derived True
  through the explicit-True rows, so a legal out-of-place declaration (`inplace_qkv=False`) was refused with a `ValueError` blaming a knob
  the caller never set. `_fuse_prepare_default` is admissibility-aware (the Summary's rule); pinned in `test_block_qsa_decode.py` on every
  part: out of place AUTO constructs with `fuse_prepare is False`, `fuse_prepare_requested is None`, no prepare stage, the K / V-only write
  and four stage launches, the explicit True its `ValueError`; the `rope_dim=0, qk_norm=True` geometry the same way with the stage's
  `check_support` decline (RED before the fix). The docs page, the constructor comment, the class docstring, the envelope's field comment
  and the support-matrix tracker carry the clause "False out of place; never True where an explicit True is declined".

## Tests (all `L0`; RED-first on the pre-change tree)

- `test_block_qsa_decode.py`: the declaration facts + carve + envelope (host; + the out-of-place AUTO cells above); one trip test per
  decline row, the raised text EQUAL to the envelope's (host); the execute refusals in both directions on an uncompiled block under
  `set_sync_debug_mode("error")` (host); the decode-indexer ladder vs the TWO-STAGE oracle (the set == the fp64 top-k of the block's own
  `(ix_q, kbar)` up to ties; every row's attention within budget of the fp32 oracle fed the kernel's list; the ring rows and the completed
  cache rows bitwise the compress kernel; dead rows exact); the identity region bitwise the caller-list block on the full list; fused vs
  unfused bitwise with the launch census by kernel name (8 vs 11), no memcpy / memset, no allocation, no host sync; the indexer's list fed
  to a caller-list block bitwise; the first-execute capture + the replay over a new step; the RoPE-table ceiling; the ring-slot forms
  (int32 / int64); the position-table arm; the MTP residues; the workspace sentinel; the caller-list band form under `fuse_prepare` bitwise.
- `test_block_qsa_end_to_end.py`: eight carried decode steps after a 301-token prefill (`S_q` 1 then 4, a rejected draft re-stepped;
  the cache rows bitwise a from-scratch compress of the accepted stream after every step; the completing row sees its own block); the
  R9 census (0 allocations, 0 host sorts).
- `test_block_qsa.py`: the carve (five slots at the end, nothing else moves) and the published rows. `test_qsa_prepare.py`: the paged
  decline inverted to the dense-geometry row, the sparse mode builds. `test_block_serving_pdl.py`: AUTO False, explicit True declined.
  `test_block_serving_extend.py`: the execute-tail pin moved to `n_commit`. `core/test_import_boundaries.py`: the two declaration cells
  of the follow-up commit.

first 12); no timeout, no hang.  The stacked branch before the restack also ran `sdpa/frost/test_sdpa_fwd_sparse_sm107.py` (340 / 0 / 2);
it was not re-run on the restacked head, which touches no `sdpa/` file (the block modules exercise the sparse core).

indexer, per layer per decode step; speed-ups POSITIVE = FROST faster (`baseline / FROST - 1`). Measured on the stacked branch before the
restack: the base kernels' later follow-ups are host-side gates / validation and the top-k cluster form's slot-ownership fix, and the
binding's follow-up commit changes declaration-time behaviour only; the restacked head is not re-measured.

**Geomeans (vLLM / FROST - 1, POSITIVE = FROST faster): over the 19 page-16 cells +5.3 %; over B <= 4 +6.1 %; over B 32 +3.6 %; over the seven-cell quick subset +4.9 %; over the S_q 1 cells incl. the identity +8.0 %; over the S_q 4 cells +2.5 %.**  The losses sit at B 32 x S_q 4 only.

**`fuse_prepare` lever (unfused / fused - 1, POSITIVE = the fused prepare faster): +10.4 % over the cells, +11.9 % over B <= 4, +7.0 % over B 32; every B <= 4 control pair within 1 %: False; cells losing beyond their control band: 0. Verdict (reading the control pairs): the five B <= 4 control pairs beyond 1 % are a capture-order bias AGAINST the fused arm (the twin captured last is 0.4-0.5 us faster), so the band-corrected lever is >= +9.1 % on every B <= 4 cell and a build-order control confirmed the rows of record are conservative -- the measured default FLIPS: `SPARSE_INDEXER_FUSE_PREPARE_DEFAULT_CCS = ((10, 7),)` (commit C3).**

Every FROST arm admitted by the oracles (the selection == the fp64 top-k of the kernel's own operands up to ties; cos(out) > 0.999 vs the
fp32 reference fed that list; the gated O within 2e-2; fused == unfused bitwise on out AND the list; the caller block fed FROST's list ==
the e2e block bitwise) on all 19 + 4 cells. Functional validation of the binding itself: the test counts above.

## Restack onto `develop`

The branch was first built on cherry-picks of the five base PRs; once all five squash-merged, the picks were dropped by range and C1-C3 were
replayed onto `develop` at #1495 (the `develop` head of the restack). C1 and C3 applied clean; C2 took one conflict and one adaptation:

- `test_block_qsa_decode.py` -- one positional hunk: `develop` merged #1762's split-combine section before #1754's band-tile sections, so the
  picks' second copy of that section (49 lines) was dropped, `develop`'s kept, and C2's sections appended after `develop`'s last test; the
  replayed added / removed lines are identical to the original commit's.
- `api.py` -- auto-merged, but #1774 moved `gated_attention_block/qsa_select*.py` to `cudnn/QSA/selection*.py` without shims: six imports
  and five prose mentions adapted (`MAX_QUERY_ROWS`, `MMA_M`, `padded_heads`, `validate_params`, `default_units_per_warp`,
  `INDEXER_SCORER_HEAD_DIM`; names and signatures unchanged).
- the other eight files auto-merged with `develop`'s follow-up text kept; the diff-stat equals the pre-restack branch's (10 files,
  +3394 / -208) before the follow-up commit, and every file outside the set equals `develop`'s. The base PRs' merged follow-ups (the
  4.8.0 cluster-form gate and its default chooser, the strided union owner loop, the 64-bit fake row stride, the capture-safe projection
  flag at declaration and compile, the low-SM-count declaration pins, the selector's table / length validation before its gates) are present
  and untouched.
- Verification: the restacked head 856 / 0 / 3 over 12 modules on the cc 10.7 part and the host halves green; the final head with the
  follow-up commit as tabled above (889 / 0 / 3 over 13 modules).

## Review notes

- Rule S2: the tracker rows + the docs page land in the SAME commit as the binding; the follow-up commit changes no `Capabilities` /
  `EngineSpec` field (a knob's AUTO reading), the tracker prose updated because it spells that reading.
- Never a tolerance widened (`COS_OUT` 0.999, `ATOL` 2e-2, `TIE_TOL` 1e-4 as the kernel suites); no log statement deleted.
- `use_pdl=True` on the sparse chain keeps the existing decline (#1763 is not a base); `_IndexerDecode` threads the switch it is handed
  (`pdl_names` spells the kernels that would take it) so #1763's restack flips one declaration site.
- `black -l 160` clean; every new source file carries the SPDX header; every new test module is `L0`.

## Open items

- No FROST writer of the PAGED compressed-key cache at PREFILL -- the prefill form writes `index_k_compressed` densely; a serving stack
  scatters the rows into its pages and primes the ring from the prompt's raw band (documented; the multi-step cell does so).
- The `fuse_prepare` default: measured and FLIPPED to True on cc 10.7 (C3) where the fused form is admissible; every other part keeps
  False until measured there.
- `index_commit_present=True` (a per-sequence commit count) is a typed follow-up; the `indexer_e4m3_cache` / `indexer_e4m3_pool` arms
  wait for the paged scorer's e4m3 read arm and the sparse core's in-kernel dequant arm.
- The nightly CI's CuTe DSL 4.7.0 jobs (SM90 / SM100 / A100; green before the base PRs merged) are red from the BASE kernels, not from
  this binding, and are handled in a separate fix PR: (a) the paged scorer raises a CUDA illegal instruction on SM90 / SM100 under the
  4.7.0 wheel -- its bundled PTX assembler (13.3) mis-encodes the uniform-register operands of `cp.async.cg.shared.global.L2::cache_hint`
  with a `createpolicy` register policy (the copies read uniform registers nothing writes; the 4.8.0 wheel's 13.4 assembler encodes them
  correctly; the PTX is identical; the unhinted copy passes under 4.7.0) -> the fix keys the L2-hint arm on the bundled compiler version
  (unhinted below 13.4, a typed decline if the hint is forced); (b) the top-k's cluster-form cells raise the 4.8.0 typed decline instead
  of skipping under 4.7.0, and one decline test expects the cc gate before the DSL gate -> the cells skip with the typed text and the cc
  gates precede the form's DSL floor; (c) the fresh-process front-door probe trips on the consolidated selection front door's eager
  `cutlass` import -> its tuple-dict helper moves to a DSL-free module and the probes are strengthened. The DSL 4.8.0 job of the same
  nightly was green on every `gated_attention_block` module. This PR changes none of those kernels; `_IndexerDecode` consumes them behind
  their Rule 7 gates.
- Coverage: the out-of-place declaration (`inplace_qkv=False`, the unfused twin) constructs on every part but has no executing cell yet
  (the ladder declares in place); a follow-up adds it. The `fuse_prepare_rope_tables_unfused` text's hint ("declare fuse_prepare=True")
  leads an out-of-place caller to the in-place `ValueError` next -- a wording follow-up.
- Two docstring follow-ups: the kernel listing's top-k entry (`kernels/__init__.py`) still reads "standalone until the decode indexer
  binds it"; `_IndexerDecode.check_support` re-runs the geometry rows without the e4m3-pool row (the block's declaration check carries it,
  so the stage is never built under an e4m3 pool).

Reviewed de1ee7f8fb93 against base 9c9db1ef311b.

The explicit sparse PDL path has no approval-blocking finding. Each operand-reading role waits before its first dependent access; THD remains declined, and sparse automatic enablement stays off. One old rejection test needs to follow the new supported contract. CI is not green.

[P2] Update the fused-prepare test for the newly supported sparse PDL form (source)

Removing the QsaSpec rejection makes test_fuse_prepare_builds_one_stage_in_place_of_two_and_keeps_the_carve[qsa_band] fail: test_qsa_prepare.py:856 still expects NotImplementedError for the caller-list band with fuse_prepare=True and use_pdl=True. I reproduced DID NOT RAISE locally, and the same test fails in the current-head CI run. Update that branch and its docstring to assert the accepted declaration and forwarding of use_pdl to both prepare recipes, as the dense branch already does.

Evidence: Focused local run: 8 passed, 1 failed, 35 skipped; the sole failure is the old qsa_band rejection. Pipeline 76030235 reports the same assertion. The API now deliberately permits this caller-list form. Attribution: Newly enabled combination leaves an existing contract test stale.

Validation: Reviewed all eight changed files and traced launch attributes, constexpr/cache identity, runtime pointer arguments, per-role waits, output stores, split combine and declaration declines. The added waits do not change barrier counts, ring depths or allocation layouts. Precheck B14 is not a finding: runtime slots are passed explicitly, while use_pdl is an explicit compile-time specialization. Focused local tests on SM100 with CuTe DSL 4.7.1: 8 passed, 1 failed, 35 skipped, 479 deselected. The failure is the stale rejection test above; skipped SM107 cases are not counted as native validation. Inspected current-head CI results and verified all eight changed files match the tested integration tree. All 12 new block-level PDL tests passed: six decode ladder cases, automatic/default and decline checks, kernel census, first-execute graph capture/replay, and both dependency detectors. The detector with waits removed also behaved as expected. Pipeline 76030235 finished failed: SM107 reported 8170 passed, 3 failed, 2695 skipped and 2 xfailed. Besides the stale sparse-PDL assertion, two unchanged GEMM/JAX tests failed with invalid launch configuration. SM80, SM90 and SM100 jobs succeeded. These results do not make the overall pipeline green.

Limitations: An independent SM107 rerun could not start because the available GPU became busy; native PDL evidence above is from CI. The standalone sparse SDPA tests are not collected by the selected wildcard CuTe DSL target. No independent performance comparison was available. Automatic sparse PDL remains disabled; the author's performance measurements were reviewed for scope but not reproduced.

Approved: no P0 or high-risk P1 found. Remaining findings stay with the owner; merge timing stays with the owner.

CI follow-up for de1ee7f8fb93: pipeline 76030235 finished failed. All eight changed files match the tested integration tree.

The SM107 job reported 8170 passed, 3 failed, 2695 skipped and 2 xfailed. One failure is attributable to this change: test_fuse_prepare_builds_one_stage_in_place_of_two_and_keeps_the_carve[qsa_band] still expects PDL to be rejected. I reproduced it locally; the review requests updating that old test. The other two failures are invalid launch configurations in unchanged grouped-GEMM JAX tests.

All 12 new block-level PDL tests passed, including both dependency detectors and first-execute graph capture. The SM80, SM90 and SM100 jobs succeeded. The selected target does not collect the standalone sparse SDPA module, so those tests are outside this CI evidence.

…ock-sparse decode chain -- the sparse core's griddepcontrol sites, use_pdl served under QsaSpec, bitwise the plain chain

The block-sparse d256 forward (kernels/sm107/sparse_d256_f16.py) carried no griddepcontrol site, so the gated attention
block's use_pdl switch was a typed decline under a QsaSpec geometry and the block-sparse decode chain never overlapped at
its attention link. This change lands the sites and serves the switch -- a KNOB: the same kernels, the same math, out /
O / LSE / the pools BITWISE the plain chain eagerly; the AUTO reading stays OFF on the sparse form until measured.

Kernel (python/cudnn/sdpa/fwd/kernels/sm107/sparse_d256_f16.py)
* use_pdl, a compile-time kernel argument (appended last) and the launch attribute (the host entry under the same flag;
  compile(use_pdl=) in the key). Under the attribute the grid may start while its predecessor still writes the slab, the
  pools, the block list, the lengths and the table, so EVERY global read of a predecessor's output sits below a
  griddepcontrol.wait of the reading role and no global write sits above one: the TMA warp waits before the prologue's ids
  bulk copy and Q^T box; the gather warps before their first _item_bounds (the lengths / counts), the block-table lookups
  and the K / V gathers; the MMA warp after its TMEM allocation, hand-off and descriptor builds, before _item_bounds; the
  softmax warps after the TMEM hand-off, before _item_bounds and every store. ONE griddepcontrol.launch_dependents per CTA
  right after fence_mbarrier_init + barrier_cta_sync and before the role dispatch (the prologue behind the CTA; the
  dependent grid stages its own on the idle SMs while the mainloop runs; its wait still blocks on this grid's completion
  and memory flush). The scheduler warp reads nothing global on the CLC form and the spare warp exits: no wait there.
  The module header gains a PDL SITES paragraph enumerating every global read per role; the barrier table (18 rows), every
  init count, ring depth, SMEM buffer and TMEM column are unchanged -- the sites are per-thread grid-dependency
  instructions, not mbarrier operations -- and the use_pdl=False rendering traces the program as before. The paragraph
  also names why the release may precede the MMA warp's TMEM allocation here: no dependent CTA can co-reside with this
  one (226,688 B of the 227 KiB carveout, one CTA per SM), so a dependent that allocates TMEM before its own wait can
  never hold columns this CTA's later allocation needs; a kernel copying the placement names its own footprint argument.
* The pre-dispatch prologue holds ONE global read above every role wait: the THD form's exit_if_dead_thd_cluster reads the
  setup launch's live-unit total (and its scheduler the claim counter) -- values the kernel launched right before this one
  writes -- so THD x use_pdl is a typed decline by name (never a wait above the exit, which would serialize every CTA
  anyway); the switch's scope is the dense BSHD and paged decode chain.

Adapter (python/cudnn/sdpa/fwd/sparse_gqa_sm107.py)
* use_pdl (the flag the previous commit appended and declined) is served: the kernel compiled with the switch in its key
  and launched with the attribute, the split combine's entry with its pair (compile_ptr(use_pdl=)); thd=True with
  use_pdl=True is the typed decline, naming the metadata read above the role waits. pdl_decline_reason(thd=) is the
  ONE statement of that fact: check_support raises it verbatim and the block's declaration-time decline carries it, the
  two sites pinned equal by both suites so neither text drifts alone when the kernel's PDL scope moves.

The block (python/cudnn/gated_attention_block/api.py)
* The PDL decline's `no QsaSpec` clause is dropped (the pinned prefix "use_pdl=True is served for the bf16 / f16 block only"
  and the "no e4m3 KV cache" clause survive: the quantized pipelines and the e4m3 pools under QsaSpec stay typed declines);
  use_pdl=True with thd=True on a QsaSpec geometry is declined at declaration with the adapter's statement
  (pdl_decline_reason).  _SparseSdpa takes use_pdl (appended)
  and hands it to the adapter, so pdl_stages names "sdpa_sparse" and use_pdl_effective reads True on the switched sparse
  chain. _pdl_default gains the sparse arm BEHIND SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS, an EMPTY tuple of measured parts: AUTO
  stays False on the sparse form everywhere today and a part enters the tuple with its measurement (the measured-default
  rule of DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS); an explicit value wins. serving_envelope: decode.pdl_stages = DECODE_PDL_STAGES on the
  sparse form too (the four stage kinds; the sparse core + its combine are the sdpa kind), decode.pdl_default read off the
  sparse tuple under sparse_core. DECODE_PDL_STAGES' and DecodeEnvelope's docstrings say so.

Tests (L0)
* test_sdpa_fwd_sparse_sm107.py: use_pdl served on the dense / paged decode forms and the prefill form, thd x use_pdl
  declined by name (the inversion of the previous commit's decline pin); the source pins (the pair imported, four role
  waits, one release after the init sync and before the dispatch, each a const_expr arm, the constexpr threaded
  kernel -> roles / host -> launch, compile(use_pdl=) in the key, the THD exit above the release, no new barrier / tile /
  ring wait); the compile_ptr switch and the kernel's compile key recorded under a stub for both values. Rubin: the PDL
  arm BITWISE the plain arm on O and LSE over the decode cells of the pinned forms (the decode-grid kernel, the lean
  group walk, unsplit with the epilogue gate, a no-LSE shared-list cell) and the prefill form (bf16 / f16, three tiles).
* test_block_qsa_decode.py: a use_pdl axis on the case; PDL on vs off BITWISE (out, the gated O slot, the LSE, the pools)
  on six ladder rows (bf16 / f16 pools, the shared and the per-token form, splits 1 / 2 / 4 / 17 / default, the fused gate
  and the launch, the 24 / 2 geometry), a second switched step bitwise; the AUTO reading False on the sparse form with
  the tuple empty and True with it patched to the measured part (the arm exists behind the tuple), the envelope's
  pdl_stages / pdl_default on the sparse form; the e4m3-pool and the THD declines pinned by name (the THD text = the
  adapter's pdl_decline_reason); the census under the switch = the plain chain's kernel list; the FIRST execute of a
  fresh switched declaration captured on a new stream with no warm-up under set_sync_debug_mode("error") -- the capture
  launches nothing, the replay BITWISE the eager plain chain and the eager switched chain on out / the LSE / the pools,
  stable over 50 replays (the dense chain's cell on the sparse form); the DETECTOR of a late wait -- a primary that releases its dependent at once and
  writes the slab, the K pool, the block list or the lengths late ahead of the standalone switched core: GREEN with the
  shipped kernel, RED on every operand at the longest spin with the core's waits swapped for a no-op and retraced.
* test_block_serving_pdl.py: the sparse decline pin INVERTED (the explicit True served with sdpa_sparse among the switched
  stages, AUTO False, the band block alike); the e4m3 cache's decline and the QuantSpec decline unchanged; the sparse
  core's packed form with the switch declined by name.

Docs and the tracker
* docs/fe-oss-apis/gated_attention_block.md: the decode form's PDL paragraph and the use_pdl row (the sparse chain served,
  bitwise eagerly and under capture, its AUTO reading -- pdl_default read off the sparse tuple under the block-sparse mode --,
  the THD decline); SUPPORT_MATRIX_TRACKER.md: the knob sentence of the serving-forms section (a knob,
  no Capabilities field, no EngineSpec).

…mpletion, not at its prologue -- the early-launched split combine was the PDL loss

The block-sparse decode chain under use_pdl=True lost 3.2-4.4 us per step at B <= 4 on cc 10.7 although its device span was not longer.
The loss sits at one link: the core released its dependents right after its init sync, so the split combine's CTAs were resident and
waiting through the whole mainloop and, once the core completed, took 7.4-7.9 us to finish 2.75 us of work (+4.6-5.1 us), while the core
ran 0.4-0.7 us slower with them resident. The same programmatic edge triggered at the core's completion costs nothing; the dependents
the norm + RoPE, cache-write and combine kernels launch early all gain. This change deletes the prologue release: a CTA that never
executes griddepcontrol.launch_dependents counts as released when it exits, so the dependent grid launches at the core's completion
through the programmatic edge. Every role's wait, the barrier table (18 rows), the SMEM and TMEM budgets are unchanged and the knob
stays bitwise. The kernel-source pin follows the placement (no explicit release anywhere; the helper no longer imported); the header's
PDL SITES paragraph, the adapter / block docstrings, the docs and the tracker record the measurement by node class.

… the AUTO reading never resolves True under the in-block indexer, the fused-prepare pin follows the served caller-list form, two test hygiene items

- api.py `_pdl_default`: the sparse arm also requires `index_source != "indexer"`, so a future entry in
  `SPARSE_DECODE_PDL_DEFAULT_CCS` cannot resolve `use_pdl=True` for an indexer decode block through the
  AUTO reading while the explicit True is declined by name there (the two readings answer for one domain;
  the envelope already reports `pdl_default False` on the indexer form). New cell
  `test_pdl_auto_never_resolves_true_under_the_in_block_indexer_whatever_the_tuple_holds` (RED on the
  previous code: `use_pdl` resolved True with the tuple patched to the part; green now).
- test_qsa_prepare.py `test_fuse_prepare_builds_one_stage_in_place_of_two_and_keeps_the_carve[qsa_band]`:
  the caller-list band with `fuse_prepare=True, use_pdl=True` is served now (this PR removed the QsaSpec
  decline) -- the cell asserts the accepted declaration and that `use_pdl` reaches both prepare recipes,
  as the dense branch does; docstring follows.
- test_block_qsa_decode.py: one import style for the api module (`from ... import api as _api`), and the
  graph DOT readback under `with open(...)`.

[P2] fixed in 9b3a03b: test_fuse_prepare_builds_one_stage_in_place_of_two_and_keeps_the_carve[qsa_band] now asserts the accepted declaration of the caller-list band with fuse_prepare=True, use_pdl=True (use_pdl / use_pdl_requested True, _prepare.use_pdl True, _prepare.index_band True) and that use_pdl reaches both prepare recipes, as the dense branch does; docstring updated. The same commit takes the CodeRabbit note on _pdl_default (the AUTO reading never resolves True under the in-block indexer, with a RED-then-green cell) and the two CodeQL items (with open, one import style). The branch is rebased on the current develop (#1802 in).

Verified on a Rubin cc 10.7 development node from this head (shared, functional only; passed / skipped / failed): test_qsa_prepare.py 67 / 0 / 0, test_block_qsa_decode.py (every tier) 91 / 0 / 0, test_block_serving_pdl.py (every tier) 19 / 0 / 0, test_block_serving_decode.py (L0) 140 / 0 / 0, test_block_serving_capture.py (L0) 23 / 0 / 0.

RomanAnders90 merged commit cf27700 into NVIDIA:develop Oct 23, 2026
10 checks passed

This follow-up was underway when the PR merged. All nine PR files match merge cf27700396c7 exactly.

The prior P2 finding is resolved: the caller-list qsa_band fused-prepare case now accepts PDL and checks both compile recipes. The new AUTO guard keeps the in-block indexer disabled even when its device is added to the sparse default tuple. I found no new actionable defect in the follow-up; the original two PDL patches are unchanged through the rebase.

Five focused local checks passed. A direct current-head SM107 run passed 23 checks, including all seven standalone PDL equivalence cases, both dependency detectors (with the no-wait control), first-execute CUDA Graph capture, and the changed declarations. Three profiler checks skipped because CUPTI recorded no CUDA events, so the kernel census is unverified. No performance measurement was made.

Pipeline 76184963 remains active. All nine changed files match its integration. Its SM107 FROST selector omits the standalone sparse module; the direct run above supplies that focused native coverage. CI follow-up will continue for the run already started.

Pipeline 76184963, started before merge for 9b3a03b1, passed all four CuTeDSL and five SDPA FROST lanes. All nine PR files match its integration tree and merge cf277003.

The SM107 CuTeDSL lane had 8,180 passes and no failures. It also passed all three profiler-dependent cases that the direct native run skipped: the PDL kernel census and both fused-prepare PDL variants. The standalone sparse PDL coverage remains the direct native validation recorded above, since that module is absent from the SM107 SDPA CI selector.
