Google Summer of Code

Google Summer of Code

Google Summer of Code (GSOC) is an annual program designed to introduce more developers to open-source development. Open-source projects are publicly accessible, allowing anyone to contribute by adding code, improving documentation, contributing to marketing efforts, designing, or translating. GSOC fosters teamwork, leading to significant enhancements in open-source projects.

KwickerHub

Kwickerhub Logo

KwickerHub is a dynamic community of developers originating from the University of Uyo. Our goal is to revolutionize web development and design by offering a drag-and-drop website creation tool based on visual programming principles. Unlike traditional drag-and-drop tools, KwickerHub emphasizes modular components (grids, sliders, designed tables, image carousels, etc.) rather than just templates.

We aim to streamline web application development, making it faster, more efficient, and less stressful. KwickerHub caters to designers, content creators, template makers, and front-end engineers. This summer, we're excited to extend our tool to back-end engineers, making KwickerHub a versatile, free platform that could rival WordPress or Figma in the future.

Aims and Objectives

  • Reduce the time spent on building web apps.
  • Bridge the gap between front-end developers and UI/UX designers.
  • Promote and improve the skill set of developers aiming to become full-stack developers.
  • Make UI/UX designers self-sufficient and effective.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR PROPOSAL

In your application, address the following questions:

  • Who are you, and what is your skill set?
  • What projects have you handled before?
  • Are you studying or working on anything during this period?
  • What feature will you be adding or functionality will you be improving?
  • What is your milestone?
  • Is this the only project you will be working on?

Milestone: Demonstrate how effectively you'll handle the project and estimate the required time. Include a well-defined weekly schedule with clear milestones and deliverables.

We encourage you to complete a mandatory qualification task on the idea page and propose your own idea with mentor approval. Applications without a completed qualification task will not be considered.
