docs: positioning canon — 'Stop guessing' (schema → call graph) - #208
Merged
Conversation
Supersedes the old grunt line ('Any API, first call correct'). Leads with the
imperative (stop letting your agent guess), explains with the schema→call-graph
contrast (the answer for someone who already has an OpenAPI spec), and answers the
settled-user objection (E2E hides intermediate hallucinations; 'fine' is survivorship;
correlate is the V2 message). Determinism over probabilism: you can't make the model
deterministic, so make the surface deterministic.

Supersedes 'Any API, agent-ready — first call correct.'
The line: Stop letting your agent guess. · sub: your OpenAPI spec is a schema your agent guesses from; Gecko turns it into the call graph it doesn't have to guess from.
Why the old line missed: 'any API' invited 'I already have my APIs'; 'first call correct' was a metric for a problem settled devs don't believe they have. Both described our feature, not their worldview.
The reframe attacks the worldview — every call is a guess — and answers the settled-user objection (E2E hides intermediate hallucinations → your real first-call rate is lower than you measure; 'fine' is survivorship; correlate is the V2 message). Full canon in
docs/positioning.md. Memory updated; old grunt line marked superseded.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
