Add src/utils.py with functions to support downloading data files as part of the notebook instead of relying them being pre-downloaded. Add support for .env files to make it easier to use API keys. Improve memory performance and other minor improvements.

The pull requests improves reproducibility by providing utilities for downloading the data files needed to use the notebooks provided, and some minor cleanup:
