Just thought I'd look at shiny. The changes are rather opinionated: They make the code a little bit more legible, and also a teensy bit faster. (No harm done if you don't include it, it was fun playing around)
Also, some typos are fixed.
Tested with Ruby 1.8.7 and 1.9.2
