PakUI has been discontinued — but everything you loved about it lives on, and it's better.
PakUI was never planned. It started as a couple of paks I made for fun, and I just kept adding to it. No roadmap, no clear vision — just tinkering and seeing what was possible. That's what made it fun, but it's also why it grew into a bit of a patchwork. Being a wrapper on top of MinUI meant workarounds, limitations, and things that never quite flowed the way I wanted.
I'm proud of what PakUI became, but I knew I could do better with a fresh start.
While Shaun was actively developing MinUI, I was committed to not forking it. PakUI existed because of that — it was my way of building on top without stepping on his work. After Shaun archived MinUI, I reached out and he was happy for me to fork it and make it my own.
Bloom is a true fork of MinUI — built from the source, not bolted on top. It has the clear vision PakUI never had, and everything I learned along the way went into getting it right.
Here's a taste of what's coming:
- Expanded multi-device support
- Advanced theming with accent colors, wallpapers, and more
- BitPal V2 — completely redesigned with my son as creative director
- RetroAchievements integration
- Lots more
Bloom is coming soon. When it's ready, I'll update this page with a link.
Thanks to everyone who used PakUI, gave feedback, and came along for the ride. This project has always been about having fun and tinkering — that hasn't changed.
See you soon.
