per @jsminz, switching from the (hacky) `defra-kv` approach to using `classic-level` (node wrapper around level-db) for KV operations (local sync metadata)
status: have achieved first 2-way sync (insert + update) between defra and mongo still plenty of caveats/bugs to test and workout.
