About The Pull Request

Adds the Enkidu-Class Patrol Cutter, a small 6 person combat vessel for Solcon seeking to make the faction more accessible as well as providing a unique melee-focused combat niche among the various combat vessels in the game.

"The Solar Confederation's presence in the frontier is not built on writing alone. Where diplomatic efforts fail and desperate times call for desperate measures, the Sonnensoldiers are more than willing to aid local frontier governments in matters of stabilizing their sectors quickly and efficiently. The Enkidu-Class was made with the sole intent of rapid deployment of both the Expeditionary and Stewardship companies wherever they are needed. The design has gained particular fame by the volatile Reisekompanien during the battle between the SCSV Blood In The Water and the SV Go Home, where a ship-to-ship weapons failure led to a spectacular ramming maneuver towards the frontiersmen vessel's bridge, hooking the enemy in place between its forward wings and initiating a swift massacre as the Sonnensöldneren boarded with their signature energy-halberds through a shattered window, earning the design its evocative name."

Crew:
1 captain, 2 Sonnensöldneren, 1 Medic, 1 engineer, 1 Scribe.

Why It's Good For The Game

Provides Solcon more content. A smaller ship is a smaller barrier of entry for captains trying to get a foothold within the faction, and combat is a much more supported gameplay loop than medical.

Good to see a Sol ship, but theres a number of things we need to address

  • Cargo bay is definitely a bit cramped here. Move table on top to the wall, axe both railings + handrails, and move the crate crate shelf to the other wall
Image
  • These two sections are somewhat strange to me. Feels like a crew area in a work-related wing and a work-area in a crew-quarter wing, ideally they would be flipped to ensure good flow (avoiding the age-old Aegis problem of dead people getting wheeled in through the bar into medbay because of ship flow). You can split them as well in the indicated areas, avoid long combined hallway rooms. If you need help switching them, ping me on discord and I'll make a mockup and give suggestions.
Image
  • Grav gen isn't wired
Image
  • Noticeboards got resprited, fix their orientation
Image
  • Would move the table buttons to a wall, subtracts from potential table space
Image
  • This is possibly one of the rare occurences a ship should be given an assault rifle, due to the relative poor amount of weapons in Sol's arsenal. Would probably replace the Pistole C with a GAR, which can be replaced later with something more reasonable once Sol has a greater selection to choose from.

  • All shutters should start closed as well, in line with other ships

  • Look through the entire vessel and ensure all diagonal walls on internal corners are /nodiag

Image
  • Probably get rid of the curtains here. Lot of pixel hunting
Image
  • Could move this locker to a wall locker here, it is a bit cramped
Image
  • Get some internal hull tiles or decals on the plating here
Image
  • Could probably structure the bridge like this (pictured below) to give the captain more table space (very important for a bridge). Includes space for a filing cabinet and axes the security camera console (no cameras on the ship + command console can be used to look through bodycams if needed)
Image
  • Make the pixelshift here narrower so the closet can be closed (cannot with alt click either)
Image
  • I think every ship should have an engineer role. Generally even in the absence of ship maintenance things that are required to be done (of which there are actually a number) they often take a lead role in navigating hazardous planets safely. This would increase crew size to seven, so you may need to adjust the dorm to fit another crewmember. See about fitting an engineer locker with gear in this room, as well. Free to debate me on this

Respectable ship, but it'll need a bit of work until we can put this on testmerge
