Repository files navigation

Repository of RapidSMS apps not included in:
http://github.com/rapidsms/rapidsms-contrib-apps-dev

Each app lives in its own repository. This repository contains submodules
linking to the latest stable (hopefully) versions of community-contributed apps.

To create a repository of an existing application that preserves its history:
# clone your rapidsms repository and name it my-rapidsms-apps
cd my-rapidsms-apps
# remove everything except the apps directory:
git filter-branch --index-filter "git rm -r -f --cached --ignore-unmatch DEVELOPMENT LICENSE MANIFEST.in README lib rapidsms rapidsms.ini rs_wsgi.py setup.py utilities" --prune-empty HEAD
git reset --hard
git remote rm origin
rm -rf .git/refs/original/
git reflog expire --expire=now --all
git gc --aggressive
git prune

# move all the apps to the root of the repository (rather than in apps/ directory)
git filter-branch --subdirectory-filter apps HEAD
git reset --hard
git gc --aggressive
git prune

# copy your new my-rapidsms-apps locally and name the copy after the target app
cd ..
cp -R my-rapidsms-apps my-target-app
cd my-target-app

# remove everything except the target apps directory:
git filter-branch --index-filter "git rm -r -f --cached --ignore-unmatch otherapp anotherapp thatapp" --prune-empty HEAD
git reset --hard
git remote rm origin
rm -rf .git/refs/original/
git reflog expire --expire=now --all
git gc --aggressive
git prune

# move all the apps contents to the root of the repository (instead of in its own directory)
git filter-branch --subdirectory-filter target-app HEAD
git reset --hard
git gc --aggressive
git prune

# finally, create a new repository on github and follow the instructions for adding an existing git repository
# ... and send a link to the rapidsms mailing list so it can be added as a submodule of this repository
