Cross-Credit: Cross-Chain Lending Platform

A decentralized lending platform that enables users to lend, borrow, and manage positions across multiple blockchain networks using smart contracts and cross-chain messaging.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Architecture Overview

This is a Next.js-based frontend application that interacts with cross-chain lending smart contracts deployed on Ethereum Sepolia and Avalanche Fuji testnets. The platform leverages Chainlink CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol) for cross-chain communication and Chainlink Price Feeds for real-time asset pricing.

๐Ÿš€ Key Features

  • Cross-Chain Lending: Lend assets on one chain and access them on another
  • Borrowing with Collateral: Borrow against supplied collateral with LTV (Loan-to-Value) ratios
  • Position Management: View and manage supplied/borrowed positions across chains
  • Real-time Pricing: Integration with Chainlink Price Feeds for accurate asset valuation
  • Wallet Integration: Seamless wallet connection via RainbowKit
  • Multi-Chain Support: Currently supports Ethereum Sepolia and Avalanche Fuji

๐Ÿ”„ Application Workflow

1. Wallet Connection & Network Setup

  • Users connect their wallet via RainbowKit
  • Application detects current network and prompts for correct network if needed
  • Supports switching between Sepolia and Avalanche Fuji

2. Asset Selection & Validation

  • Users select from available tokens (ETH, LINK, AVAX) based on current network
  • System validates token addresses and whitelist status
  • Real-time price fetching via Chainlink Price Feeds

3. Lending Process

๐ŸŸข How Chainlink Makes This App Functional

This app leverages Chainlink Price Feeds to fetch real-time, decentralized, and tamper-resistant USD prices for all supported tokens (ETH, LINK, AVAX) directly on-chain.

  • Why is this important?
    • All lending, borrowing, and un-lending operations depend on accurate, up-to-date asset prices to determine collateral values, borrowing limits, and liquidation thresholds.
    • By using Chainlink, the app ensures that all price-sensitive logic (like LTV calculations and position health) is based on the same data as the smart contracts, eliminating price manipulation risks and off-chain discrepancies.
  • How is it used?
    • The frontend fetches prices from Chainlink price feed contracts on the blockchain (not from centralized APIs).
    • The smart contracts also use Chainlink price feeds for all internal calculations.
    • This guarantees that what the user sees in the UI matches the contract's logic and state.

๐Ÿ“ User Flow: Lending, Borrowing, Repaying, and Unlending

LendForm (Supplying Assets)

  • Select a chain and token (ETH, LINK, or AVAX, depending on the network).
  • Enter the amount you want to supply.
  • The app checks your wallet connection, network, and token allowance.
  • If you're supplying an ERC20 token, the app will prompt for approval if needed.
  • Once approved, you can supply assets to the protocol.
  • Chainlink price feeds are used to show the USD value of your supplied amount in real time.

BorrowForm (Borrowing Against Collateral)

  • Select a chain, collateral token, and borrow token.
  • Enter the amount you want to borrow.
  • The app checks your wallet connection, network, and ensures you have enough collateral supplied.
  • The maximum borrowable amount is calculated using the on-chain LTV ratio and your supplied collateral, both valued using Chainlink price feeds.
  • You can borrow up to the protocol's allowed limit, and the UI will show your position health and interest rate.
  • The borrow transaction is sent to the smart contract, and your position is updated.

RepayForm (Repaying Borrowed Assets)

  • Select the chain and token you want to repay.
  • Enter the amount to repay.
  • The app checks your wallet connection, network, and token allowance.
  • If you're repaying an ERC20 token, the app will prompt for approval if needed.
  • Once approved, you can repay your debt, and your position is updated accordingly.
  • The UI uses Chainlink price feeds to show the USD value of your repayment.

UnlendForm (Withdrawing Supplied Assets)

  • Select the chain and token you want to withdraw.
  • Enter the amount to unlend.
  • The app checks your wallet connection, network, and ensures you have enough supplied balance.
  • The withdrawal is processed, and your position is updated.
  • The UI uses Chainlink price feeds to show the USD value of your withdrawal.

Note:

  • All forms provide real-time feedback, error handling, and transaction status updates.
  • The app ensures that all user actions are validated both on the frontend and by the smart contract, using the same price data from Chainlink.

๐Ÿ” Security Features

  • Allowance Management: Automatic ERC20 token approval with proper validation
  • Input Validation: Comprehensive amount and address validation
  • Error Handling: Detailed error messages for different failure scenarios
  • Network Validation: Ensures transactions are sent to correct networks
  • Balance Checks: Validates user balances before transactions
