This is identical to #18 it is just more convenient for @AndreiSavici to Cherry pick
This Pull request does a couple things.
if there is a 'Log_removal' key in a data set, it can have a one item dictionary where the key is 'keep' and the value is a list of logs to keep. All others will be removed. If it has a one item dictionary with key 'discard' the value should be a list of items to discard. All others will be kept.
there are a couple of functions that reduce duplication in generate_mde and generate_mde background
