These tools are intended for use by Digital Public Library of America Service Hubs and Content Hubs tasked with aggregating content into a master OAI feed for harvest by the DPLA (http://dp.la).
These tools help staff evaluate incoming Dublin Core feeds in three ways:
- Displaying data that is mapped to each of the simple Dublin Core fields [DC MAPPING CHECKER]
- Displaying the frequency of terms in each simple Dublin Core fields [DC FACET VIEWER]
- Displaying records that are missing DPLA "required" fields [REQUIRED DATA CHECKER]
Support for other incoming metadata formats is planned but not provided at this time.
Provide a valid OAI-PMH base URL, then choose a set to get a table of simple Dublin Core fields arrayed left to right, with DPLA "required" fields listed first, then "recommended" ones. This is intended as a means to see what kinds of data is mapped to each field--to catch mapping errors, or suggest ways to clean up data in the source repository.
Provide a valid OAI-PMH base URL, then choose a set and a simple Dublin Core field to get a list of terms mapped to that field ordered by frequency. This is intended to help determine places where metadata could be streamlined--two terms combined into one, or corrected (in the case of misspelling, punctuation).
Provide a valid OAI-PMH base URL, then choose a set. The Required Data Checker will parse the entirety of an OAI set looking for records that are missing required or recommended fields. The result table is ordered by the number of missing fields per record.
