Text2Speech

A Chrome Browser Extension to dictate selected text on a web page. This extension converts the highlighted text to speech whenever the extension icon or hotkey is clicked. May be especially useful for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or those who just don't want to use their glasses.

Hotkey: CTRL + SHIFT + Y

Installation

1. Clone the Repository with the following command:

   git clone https://github.com/nathanielmathew/Text2Speech.git

   Alternatively, you may download the ZIP file by clicking on the "Code" button of the repository

2. Go to Chrome Settings using three dots on the top right corner.

3. Select Extensions

4. Enable Developer Mode if it isn't enabled

5. Click on Load Unpacked and select the folder "Text2Speech".

6. Restart your browser and it will be ready to use

Usage

1. Pin the extension on your browser if needed

2. Select the text that you wish to dictate

3. Click on the Extension's Icon to dictate the text OR Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + Y
