Some cartography UI ideas
(2010, May 6 meeting)
A "bird-eye" view of your computer - sections of map correspond to activities or contexts, each of which may contain a set of applications and documents used in that context. Context may lead further to deeper contexts. Circle indicates your "area of view" and you can adjust how much information you want to be able to see at once.
Single application may have its menus replaced with a local map.
On larger screens a map bar may be always visible allowing navigation both between contexts (on a global map) and within application menus (local map). Menus may be "geographically sensitive" to where you are in the application now.
