This is a minor update from 2.5, fixing issues in Catalan. Other languages are the same as 2.5.

Changelog for 2.5:

  • Options menu is now available in-game (#100)

  • Half battles mode now applies to the overworld as well as dungeons (#116)
  • German:
    • HP and MP were the wrong way around in the status window

This adds a new French translation, plus some tweaks to Spanish and English. Technical changes mean we have much more room for translation now.

Changelog:

  • Updated and expanded French script with a great deal of extra hints and lore added, tying into later games in the series
  • Amended translation notes to better explain certain spells
  • Some script amendments regarding the words Laconian and Zirconian in most languages
  • Spanish:
    • Typo fixes
  • English:
    • Fixed missing wait for button press when talking to Tajim (en)
    • Renamed Dorougue to Druj. Look it up!
    • Renamed Ant-lion to Antlion
  • French:
    • Fixed sometimes corrupted enemy names in French
    • Added more accented letters
    • Extended save game name entry screen to show "Sauvegarder"
  • Technical work:
    • Recompressed all sprite art to make more room for script
    • Script is now stored across the entire ROM space, removing the previous 16KB (compressed) limit

This adds the Spanish and German languages to the list supported, thanks to @kusfo and @gensakudan respectively, plus a new "literal" translation. It also includes several quality of life improvements, feature polish and bug fixes to the original 1986 code.

  • Fixed some very old mistranslations
  • Fixed areas of the script that incorrectly make assumptions about which character is alive
  • Quite a lot of work done on the disassembly
  • When you buy weapons/armor, you can optionally equip it immediately (#50)
  • Changed name entry screen to support a cursor on wider words (#70)
  • Shop drawing now uses a smaller Meseta window (#72) and dynamic-width inventories (#79)
  • Added support for dynamic pronouns in the script (#80)
  • Fixed a bug that could cause blank lines in the script after a prompt (#82)
  • Fixed some "soft lock" situations in the original game (#84)
  • Added an option to speed up scene transitions (palette fades)
  • Added an option to speed up text drawing in the main script window
  • Button 1 more usage is now more consistently a "cancel" or "no" action (#96)
  • Extended the credits sequence so the original credits are now left untouched

This adds the Catalan language to the list supported, thanks to @kusfo, and fixes some minor glitches.

This is the first multi-lingual release with English, French and Brazilian Portuguese versions.
