This list is partial and will expand over time

• Complete a thorough survey of the state of "Proof of Stake" in Ethereum
• Implement a test of Bolt Labs zkChannels
• Examine privacy issues with Bitcoin's Lightning Network
• Analysis of the usage of blockchains in supply chain, worth it or just surfing on the hype?
• State of mining: now vs 2018 peak of the hype. Is it still consuming way too much power?
• There are several "rollup" solutions being examined in Bitcoin. Analyze one in detail.
• Can we build environmentally friendly blockchains? (What's been done? What can we improve?)
• Overview of theoretical definitions of blockchains (or public ledgers)? What's the best definition at this point, does it cover all blockchains?
• Solutions for fees on Ethereum. There are some ideas like GasToken and AnySender. Pick some and examine them or propose improvements.
• Study of decentralized exchanges. How do these work, what are the weak points. What improvements can we make?
• De-anonymization techniques for Zcash and Monero. What's the state of the art, what can you learn? How about active attacks?
• Study techniques for preventing theft at exchanges. What improvements could you propose?
• Algorithmic stablecoins. How do these work, how vulnerable are they, what could you do to improve them?
