Skipping antialiasing here for speed turns out to have been a poorly reasoned decision. The aliased images exhibited much less correlation than correctly antialiased ones, making it easier for image artifacts to corrupt the alignment. Also, with antialiasing enabled, we no longer need to use gaussian blur when computing the whitened image for phase correlation.
