Summary

Surgical revision pass on content/dhamma/glossary.md responding to GPT-5.5 Pro feedback. Ten edits across existing entries plus two new Part-XIV entries; no structural / convention changes.

Edit highlights

  • jñāna-yoga — clarify the ātman/brahman register split (classical Advaita vs Nisargadatta-style); split out viveka (Vedānta) and śravaṇa-manana-nididhyāsana as their own Part-XIV entries (the Pāli/Vedānta viveka follows the existing split-entry pattern from sabhāva/svabhāva).
  • ekodibhāva — soften "Kumāra's etymology" → "Kumāra's proposed derivation"; cite PED/DPD's "one aim / single-pointed" direction explicitly.
  • Prāsaṅgika / Svātantrika — flag as later Tibetan doxographic classifications retrojected onto Indian Madhyamaka.
  • taṇhā cleanup — DO link 8 drops "/ aversion"; lobha/dosa/moha reframes "craving / aversion" as the modern insight-pedagogy framing rather than the canonical reading.
  • Sense-base / dvāra — tighten toward "same referent, different conceptual lens" framing.
  • pabhassara — lift the Block/Chalmers comparison out of the core Pāli def into a trailing _def-flag: …_ paragraph.
  • vipassanā — soften categorical "is actually satipaṭṭhāna" → "operationalizes satipaṭṭhāna techniques."
  • Part-IX 4NT def-flag — reword as historical-critical hypothesis rather than settled fact.
  • Abhi. dhamma — drop "phenomenal atom" (smuggles spatial-physics and consciousness-only readings); gloss with the four ultimate categories — citta, cetasika, rūpa, nibbāna.
  • samādhi — narrow the "concentration" historical note: noun is older, mental-focus sense becomes prominent in modern English from the 19th c.

The existing _def-flag: …_ convention continues to handle both the comparative-philosophy and historical-critical separation; structural separation (own paragraph) handles the pabhassara comparative-vs-core distinction without introducing new flag-vocabulary.

Test plan

  • npm run check (tsc + prettier) passes
  • npm run glossary:pdf rebuilds successfully
  • rg "craving / aversion" shows only the three intended meta-mentions (modern insight-pedagogy framing references)
  • Visual check on the deployed preview build for the touched entries (jñāna-yoga, viveka × 2, śravaṇa-manana-nididhyāsana, ekodibhāva, Prāsaṅgika/Svātantrika, taṇhā × 2, sense-base, pabhassara, vipassanā, Part-IX def-flag, Abhi. dhamma, samādhi)

Surgical edits across ten entries, plus two new Part-XIV entries.

- jñāna-yoga: clarify the ātman/brahman register split (classical
Advaita vs Nisargadatta); add new Part-XIV entries for viveka
(Vedānta — split-entry counterpart to the Pāli viveka at III.c)
  and śravaṇa-manana-nididhyāsana (BU 2.4.5).
- ekodibhāva: soften "Kumāra's etymology" to "Kumāra's proposed
derivation"; cite PED/DPD's "one aim / single-pointed" direction.
- Prāsaṅgika / Svātantrika: flag as later Tibetan doxographic
  classifications retrojected onto Indian Madhyamaka.
- taṇhā cleanup: DO link 8 drops "/ aversion"; lobha/dosa/moha
reframes "craving / aversion" as the modern insight-pedagogy
framing rather than the canonical reading.
- Sense-base / dvāra: tighten toward "same referent, different
  conceptual lens" framing.
- pabhassara: lift the Block/Chalmers comparison out of the core
Pāli def into a trailing def-flag paragraph.
- vipassanā: soften "is actually satipaṭṭhāna" → "operationalizes
  satipaṭṭhāna techniques."
- Part-IX 4NT def-flag: reword as a historical-critical hypothesis
  rather than settled fact.
- Abhi. dhamma: drop "phenomenal atom" (smuggles spatial-physics
and consciousness-only readings); gloss with the four ultimate
categories — citta, cetasika, rūpa, nibbāna.
- samādhi: narrow the "concentration" historical note — the noun
is older, the mental-focus sense becomes prominent in modern
  English from the 19th c.

No new flag-vocabulary; the existing _def-flag: …_ convention
continues to carry both the comparative-philosophy and historical-
critical separation, achieved structurally (separate paragraphs)
rather than by adding new flag-names.
