the rss translator triggers when:

  • user enters rss/atom-feed URL in urlbar manually (or <paragraph url="....">)
  • user enters rss/atom-feed URL with .rss/atom extension) in urlbar manually (or <paragraph url="....">)
  • user can enter html webpage URL in urlbar, and feed is discoverable via <link rel="alternate">
  • test rss-files are in tests/room/rss*

The rss-translator is useful, but I'm not sure whether to enable the rsshub webui-app by default.
I mean enabling RSS-portals for ~1582 popular websites without RSSfeed is nice in theory..but I'm noticing its a potential minefield too.
I'm testing a lots of them..and I'm noticing lots of differences/edgecases..difference in quality 😅
A good rss-reader is really a project on its own..the RSS/ATOM-specs have evolved..and there's much more quirks (also CORS!) than my 90s-internet-brain expected 🤔
Since we cannot control other people's RSS/ATOM-feed, I think it might be better to leave it to the user/worldbuilder (instead of offering default portals to potentially poor experiences).
The user can decide for themselves, which rss-feed to enter/bookmark (in the urlbar or )

@bai @gunpigEW should we enable the rsshub-portals (1st video) by default or not? 🤔
In the pullrequest its enabled by default...
I'm in a james-brown split between "~1582 remote feeds can lead to underwhelming portals" vs "people need to be tolerant to poor UX because the web is fragile" 🤷‍♂️

OK..for now I've added a text "rsshub.app examples" below the rsshub portals.
This will make it a bit more clear that the quality of those portals depends on rsshub.app.
An interesting idea was to project it on the paintings, but I noticed that it limits it to max 2 rsshub feeds.
On top of that its not clear what/how it will render.
For now I think this good enough and leave it at this.
Worstcase we can remove rsshub webui from default.json.
