With the awesome-switcher-preview is a module for the awesomeWM included. It is accessible under this link and maintained by user berlam.
the keybindings are as follows
| Keys | Nr of Press | Action |
|---|---|---|
| ALT [ + SHIFT ] + Tab | single | switch between the last 2 programs |
| ALT + Tab | multiple | browse through open programs from left to right |
| ALT + SHIFT + Tab | multiple | browser from right to left |
Holding down ALT for more as 1.5 second opens a preview of all open programs
