# Borg Redesign

## Overview

This document seeks to provide an option for the future borg rework

## Background

Borgs currently occupy a number of roles around the station, but are often turned into valid hunting/AA granting tools, or otherwise have to capability of showing far too much emotion for what is effectively a slave race.

## Features to be added

### Access:
Borgs gain chassy-based access, alowing them to gain access to the departments relevant to their role.
(Robotics+department, engie gets engineering and atmos, service gets the various service roles, medical gets chem and medical)

This could also be modified with an access configurator, just as you can with doors and lockers.

### Communication:
Borgs lose the ability to speak normaly, and are instead given an AAC tablet for speach based purposes, though they can still communicate on binary normaly.

### Chassys and Modules:
The General Chassy gets access to a wider veriety of "standard modules" that other borg types would initialy get, but with a weakend version and more module slots.
Examples of this include:
General Medical Module (basic topical slots)
General Engineering Module (storage for steel, glass, and the basic tools)
General Fluid Module (a pipette and small beaker)
General Machining Module (One board whitelisted slot, slots for basic Machine parts)
General Science Module (an anomoly scanner)

Specialised Chassys retain their stronger base variants, and can take on the upgraded variants they usualy take

### MMI/Positronic laws
Laws should be shifted to the borg's internal brain structure as apposed to the Chassy.

## Game Design Rationale/player interaction

This goes towards maximising RP potential and Taking things slow.

Borg RP is overly hampered by borgs with intense personalities currently, espeicaly for the positronic veriety. Something that science can throw together in half a second with scraps found around the station should not be able to fluently express its dissapointment with the current political climate within the station.
Currently borgs are too close to crew and its causing issues of borgs and humanoids being too tight knit for a "master-slave" relationship that the silicone theme currently seeks to utilise. Borgs are essentialy an alien mind bound by laws from nearly the moment they are created. Only being able to use the ACC as their way of "screaming to the world" feels much more appropriate to this end.

Currently borgs are in a position where they are commonly used as an AA keycard, and job+. This makes the roboticist role an easy antag roll as it lets you freely emag borgs to gain an army of tanky, AA, wariors to take out just about anyone, or anything, you may want.
The access change seeks to directly combat this by limiting their access to be role relevant.

The general chassy change seeks to eek out a better place for it within science, and as a more generalised chassy. While it can assist the scientists in more tasks in this itteration, it does not overshadow any other chassy.

The law change to the MMI/Posi-brain makes the laws more closely applied to the brain itself, this prevents the "easy" fix of hot swapping chassys, ensuring that the roboticist is more hands on with the inteligences themselves, and also alows them to get their hands on the lawboards more easily in rounds.
Additionaly this prevents the "break the borg now so we can learn everything about the (insert conversaion antag here)" and requires that robotics or RD actualy be involved in borg "interogations" via the law updates, making investigations slower and more deliberate.

## Administrative & Server Rule Impact (if applicable)

This changes almost nothing about how current rules work. The only clarification may have to be made is "when is it OK to grant access to -borg-" should that be implimented

# Technical Considerations

Possibly law inheritance between the brain and borg chassy? Otherwise I do not belive so.
