Summary of Changes

Hello @MengqinShen, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a bug in the google-genai plugin's gemini.py model, specifically concerning how the model version is extracted from an incoming request. The change enhances the robustness of the model name determination logic, ensuring that the system gracefully handles cases where the version attribute might be absent or empty in the request configuration, thereby preventing potential runtime errors and improving overall stability.

Highlights

  • Bug Fix: Addresses a bug related to model import in a google-genai sample, specifically within the gemini.py model implementation.
  • Robust Model Versioning: Improves the logic for determining the model name by safely checking for the version attribute in the request configuration.
  • Error Handling Refinement: Replaces a try-except AttributeError block with a more explicit conditional check using hasattr to prevent runtime errors when request.config.version might be missing or falsy.

Code Review

This pull request aims to fix a bug related to model version handling in GeminiModel.generate. The change addresses the case where request.config.version could be a falsy value. However, the new implementation introduces a critical bug: it will raise an AttributeError if request.config is None. I've provided a review comment with a suggested fix that is safer and more explicit.
