Summary of Changes

Hello @yesudeep, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request enhances the google-genai-hello sample by making Google Cloud Platform telemetry an opt-in feature. Users can now explicitly control the activation of tracing and metrics collection via a new command-line argument. This change is complemented by comprehensive documentation that guides users through the necessary setup and usage steps for enabling and testing GCP telemetry.

Highlights

  • GCP Telemetry Control: The add_gcp_telemetry() function call is now conditional, allowing users to enable or disable GCP telemetry (tracing and metrics) through a new command-line argument.
  • Command-Line Interface: A new --enable-gcp-telemetry argument has been introduced to the google_genai_hello.py script, providing explicit control over GCP telemetry activation.
  • Updated Documentation: The README.md file has been updated with a new section detailing how to test GCP telemetry, including steps for API enablement, authentication, and running the sample with the new CLI flag.

Code Review

This pull request makes GCP telemetry optional in the google-genai-hello sample, controlled by a new --enable-gcp-telemetry command-line flag. The changes are well-implemented, moving the telemetry initialization into the __main__ block and using argparse to handle the flag. The documentation in the README has also been updated with clear instructions on how to use this new feature.

My review includes a couple of minor suggestions: one to remove an unused import for code cleanliness, and another to correct a detail in the documentation to improve accuracy.
