Summary

  • Add an optional dynamicHighlights input to web_search_exa. When enabled, request Dynamic Highlights and include the required Exa preview header.
  • Keep standard highlights and existing headers unchanged when the input is omitted or false.

Closes #461.

Validation

  • npm test -- tests/unit/tools/webSearch.test.ts (6 passed; the new regression failed before the change)
  • npm run ci (Node 20.20.2 and Node 24.20.0; 14 files and 207 tests passed on each, plus formatting and type checks)
  • npm run build (passed; existing CommonJS import.meta warnings)

Requests were verified with the existing mock; no live Exa API request was made. Dynamic Highlights is a research preview and requires the Exa-Beta: dynamic-highlights-2026-08-28 header.

AI assistance: Codex assisted with implementation and tests.
