Desktop enhancement suite
electrifier is an open-source project which extends Windows ®️ Explorer with
- Full-featured multi-tab experience
- Built-in file viewers and plain editors
- Session management and history functionality
- PowerShell integration, automation and extensibility
However, since Classic electrifier is still in early development stages, most mentioned features are currently work in progress or just plans for the future.
If you want to get involved in its development feel free to contribute!
Released | Version | Details |
---|---|---|
04/05/19 | 0.1.1 | An internal alpha test is currently in progress |
Originally, the project was started back in 2004, using .NET-framework 1.0 and Windows XP. However, due to a system crash, I lost all my data, including the source-code, which was stored on a software RAID-5.
Meanwhile I managed to restore those lost artefacts, converted them to Visual Studio 2019 and .NET 4.6 and relaunched the development cycle.
electrifier is developed using Visual Studio Community 2019 and uses .NET-framework 4.6.
electrifier makes use of the following third party components:
Name | Author(s) | License |
---|---|---|
Vanara | David Hall | MIT License |
DockPanel Suite | Lex Li, Ryan Rastedt & others | MIT License |
Sunburst.WindowsForms.Ribbon | William Kent | Microsoft Public License (Ms-PL) |
Knob Buttons Toolbar icons | iTweek aka Miles Ponson | [Custom] |
Currently, the project is in an early alpha-stage. However, if you feel interested in helping me out, you are welcome to contact me.
To run electrifier, you supposedly need nothing except a running Windows Operating System, Vista SP1 or above. The .NET-framework should be installed due normal Windows-Update cycle.
