To use recovery for the first time you may also wish to install it to the boot partition. The device will boot straight into recovery. When you install Firefox OS it will write the correct boot image to the boot partition.

fastboot flash boot recovery_device.img

Enter recovery at boot

You can enter recovery any time the device boots. When the Boot 2 Gecko logo shows you will notice the device LED glows amber for a few moments. Press the volume up button several times. It will change to orange and enter recovery.

Enter recovery directly *

You can enter recovery directly from when the device is powered off.

Press and hold volume down
Press power button
Release volume down when LED shines

If you have been using Firefox OS for several months this may not work because your device has an old bootloader. You need to install the latest Sony firmware from Flashtool to activate this feature. See Sony Developer World for more information.

These releases of Firefox OS will receive Full OTA updates.

To install:

Download and install recovery to both boot and recovery partitions
Wipe the device and install the release via adb sideload
Reboot!

To use adb sideload use the following command:
adb sideload B2G_MASTER-201512_device.zip
