Data Curation is granted only to approved individuals with an administrative account.

How to create a new study

  1. Login to the Virus-Seq Portal.
  2. In to top left corner, click the dropdown and then select Manage Studies.
  3. Once on the management page, click the Create Study button. A modal will open and you will be prompted to fill in the required details.
    • Study ID: This is the short name for the study. Make this value short and informative, and in all capital letters. Generally, a provincial suffix like -ON or -QC is recommended.
    • Organization: List the organizations that are responsible for data management of this study.
    • Study Name: This is the short name for the study. This can be more informative that the Study ID.
    • Study Description: This is an optional field where you can include additional details about the study that may help you or others managing studies. For example:

  1. Once ready, click Create Study in the bottom right corner of the modal.

The study has now been initialized. Data curators can complete data uploads, or approved study data submitters can be added.

How to add data submitters to studies

  1. Login to the Virus-Seq Portal.
  2. In to top left corner, click the dropdown and then select Manage Studies.
  3. Once on the management page, click the Add Data Submitters button. A modal will open and you will be prompted to fill in the required details.
    • Study ID: Select a Study ID from the dropdown.
    • Email: This is the email for the user you wish to give permission to submit to this study. Note that a user must have already registered for an account to be added. If you attempt to add an email that has not yet registered, you will not be able to add that email.
    • Multiple data submitters for a single study can be added at the same time by clicking the Add Another button.

  1. Once ready, click the Add Data Submitters button in the bottom right corner of the modal.

The data submitter has now been granted permission to upload data for this study. On their next login, the permissions should appear on their account.

How to remove data submitters from studies

  1. Login to the Virus-Seq Portal.
  2. In to top left corner, click the dropdown and then select Manage Studies.
  3. Once on the management page, Control+F and search for the email of the user you would like to remove permissions for. Click the garbage can icon next to their name, then select Remove in the confirmation modal that appears.

The data submitter has now been removed from permission to upload data for this study.
