  • Trying to get the TOC working in book class was causing problems. So I am attempting to migrate to memoir class which is supposed to have better controls. However, I am 10 hours in with AI hell loops.
  • The TOC is apparently running into conflict with the chapter, fancyhdr, and section settings. These all need to be changed to the memoir way.
  • The top margin is much better than it was. But it isn't as intuitive as geometry (which wasn't working. At least our settings weren't producing the results that we thought they should.)
  • Foot notes are still a problem as they appear in the body text and not in the footer region or lower in the page.
  • We gained about 60 pages. Currently at 741 (to many). Up from 688. The printer is budgeting for 700 pages. We can go a little over, but 741 is a bit much.

This is an attempt to resolve #663 .

This also resolves: #664 using the memoir package. I believe this was also resolved using the book package which was pushed to main.

Hi Thomas and Michael. Don't know if either of you will have a chance to look at my mess this weekend. I always feel guilty setting aside proof reading and editing in order to spend 8-10 hours fighting with an AI only to make things worse than when I started. (That is with vim key bindings, qpdf, and regex. I just can't get my head wrapped around the manuals.) If either of you are available for live troubleshooting outside of Sabbath hours, I will cancel all other appointments. (There are only a few minimal appointments anyway as I am concentrated on the task of getting this book to the publishing director ASAP. But I will cancel those appointments if either of you are available. Any time between 4am and midnight, non Sabbath hours.) I am in the Bangkok time zone.
