"shell" is no longer a Poetry command, it got moved to a plugin (see https://github.com/python-poetry/poetry-plugin-shell)

unfortunately, this was dealt with slightly different as we want to minimize package size whenever possible and the shell plugin is not exactly necessary. instead we have removed that piece and left instructions for using poetry run python

your efforts are much appreciated, hope to see you in the repo again
