The below test case is described in the BIP 174 Test Vectors.

Add master private key

PSBT 174 Test Vector:

The private keys in the tests below are derived from the following master private key:

  • Extended Private Key: 
    tprv8ZgxMBicQKsPd9TeAdPADNnSyH9SSUUbTVeFszDE23Ki6TBB5nCefAdHkK8Fm3qMQR6sHwA56zqRmKmxnHk37JkiFzvncDqoKmPWubu7hDF

Steps

  • click on the Keys button on the top right side of the screen

  • on the pop-up click Add HD Key

  • click the More button and paste the above master private key tprv8ZgxMBicQK... in the HD Key field

  • click on Convert, the Public Key and the Fingerprint fields should now be populated

  • click the OK (green) button for this private key

  • click the OK button on the pop-up

  • now the Keys button should indicate that there is one (1) key configured

Create PSBT

Add Outputs

PSBT 174 Test Vector:

A creator creating a PSBT for a transaction which creates the following outputs:

  • scriptPubKey: 0014d85c2b71d0060b09c9886aeb815e50991dda124d, Amount: 1.49990000
  • scriptPubKey: 001400aea9a2e5f0f876a588df5546e8742d1d87008f, Amount: 1.00000000

Steps

  • click on the Add Output button
  • fill in the Value(sats) on the recently create Output

Edit Lock Script

Click the Edit Script icon. On the opened pop-up perform the following steps

  • for Payment Type select P2WPKH (Pay to Witness Public Key Hash)

  • for Address enter tb1qmpwzkuwsqc9snjvgdt4czhjsnywa5yjdzglap9(this is for Bitcoin Test Network)

  • click the Check button. Values should be automatically filled on the right side Computed Value column

  • click OK on the pop-up. The Lock Script (scriptPubKey) value should be filled in

  • perform the same steps for the second input (Address: tb1qqzh2ngh97ru8dfvgma25d6r595wcwqy06sqc03)

After the PSBT was created, we can move to the Update phase.

Steps:

  • if the Updater is the same as the Creator then click the Next button
  • if the Updater and the Creator are different, then Creator must Export the PSBT and the Updater must Import back the PSBT (as Base64 or Hex)

Configure non-witness UTXO (Input [0])

Set the Transaction that it is being spent from.

Steps:

  • click the Set TX button

Set the Redeem Script and the Derivation Paths

Steps:

  • click the More button next to the Previous Output Index input

  • the Lock Script is already filled in from the Previous Transaction Hex

  • click the edit script icon

  • the P2SH payment data is already filled in

  • change the Payment Type to P2MS

  • clear the P2SH Output

  • set the Signatures (M) value to 2

  • click on the Add Public Key button

  • a new Public Key entry should be added

  • click on the More button next to the Public Key

  • on the expanded panel Select the Key with name d90c6a4f (same as the fingerprint)

  • the Fingerprint d90c6a4f value will be filled in

  • enter m/0'/0'/0' for the Path field and click Check

  • the derived Public Key value (029583bf39a...) should be filled in

  • remember to click the green OK button on top

  • add another Public Key by repeating the same steps, but use the Derivation Path m/0'/0'/1'

  • after the two Public Keys are configured, click the Check button

  • the Output Script will be computed

  • click the Wrap in P2SH button

  • check that the Redeem Script is identical with the one provided by the Previous Transaction (hash: 0fb9463421696b82c833af241c78c17ddbde4934)

  • click the green OK button

  • the Output type should change to p2sh-p2ms

  • the Redeem Scripts should be also be present in the Script section, next to the Unlock Script

Configure witness UTXO (Input [1])

The witness script in this case is also a P2MS (2 of 2) wrapped in a P2WSH which is again wrapped in a P2SH

Set the Witness Script and the Derivation Paths

Repeat the same steps for the second input, with the following differences:

  • use the Derivation Paths m/0'/0'/2' and m/0'/0'/3' for the Public Keys when creating the P2MS payment
  • first Wrap in P2WSH the P2MS
  • then Wrap in P2SH the resulted P2WSH
  • the resulted Redeem Script and Lock Script should be:

Configure Derivation Paths for Outputs

Both Outputs pay to a P2WPKH. The addresses have been provided, but not the actual Public Keys. Follow the below steps in order to configure the Public Keys and Derivation Paths:

Steps:

  • click on the Lock Script edit icon for the first Output
  • on the pop-up click the More button for Public Key field
  • select the Key and provide the Derivation Path m/0'/0'/4'
  • click the Check button, the Public Key should be filled in
  • remember to click the green OK button

Repeat the above steps for the second Output, but use the Derivation Path m/0'/0'/4'.

Steps:

  • click on the Signature Config button on the bottom of the page
  • a pop-up is open where the Sighash can be configured for each Input.

  • for SIGHASH_ALL, leave the values as they are and click the green OK button
  • repeat the process for the second Input. Scroll down to see the second Input
  • click the OK button for the pop-up

Sign PSBTs

PSBT 174 Test Vector:

Given the above updated PSBT, a signer that supports SIGHASH_ALL for P2PKH and P2WPKH spends and uses RFC6979 for nonce generation and has the following keys:

  • cP53pDbR5WtAD8dYAW9hhTjuvvTVaEiQBdrz9XPrgLBeRFiyCbQr (m/0'/0'/0')
  • cR6SXDoyfQrcp4piaiHE97Rsgta9mNhGTen9XeonVgwsh4iSgw6d (m/0'/0'/2')

Sign the PSBT - Signer One

After the PSBT was updated, we can move to the Sign phase.

Steps:

  • if the Signer is the same as the Updater then click the Next button
  • if the Signer and the Updater are different, then Updater must Export the PSBT and the Signer must Import back

Add Keys for signing

Steps:

  • click on the Keys button on the top right of the page
  • click the Add Simple Key button, then click the More button for the newly added key
  • paste the above key (cP53pDbR5WtAD8dYAW9hhTjuvvTVaEiQBdrz9XPrgLBeRFiyCbQr) in the WIF Text field and click the Convert button
  • remember to click the green OK button

  • repeat the above steps for the second key (cR6SXDoyfQrcp4piaiHE97Rsgta9mNhGTen9XeonVgwsh4iSgw6d)
  • click the OK button on the pop-up. Now the Keys button should show the number 3 next to it.

Partially Sign Inputs

Steps:

  • click the Sign button
  • on the open pop-up select the Key for Signing (the first one configured above)
  • click the Sign All button
  • the Signature field for Input [0] should be filled in
  • do the same for the second key. It should sign Input [1]
  • click the OK button on the pop-up
