Remote work isn't failing. Your playbook is.
Most companies didn't go remote. They just digitized the office. Open & Async is the opinionated, GitHub-tested playbook for building distributed teams that actually thrive: working in the open, defaulting to async, and measuring impact over hours. A decade of hard-won practice, distilled into moves you can steal today.
I'm a product leader for developer platforms and open source. Over a decade at GitHub, I was a product manager for trust and safety, shipping 500+ features and the github.com API endpoints behind them; led a bottom-up rewrite of GitHub Pages; and wrote Licensee, the open source library behind GitHub's license detection. Most recently I owned the internal platform 4,000+ GitHub employees use to get work done. I'm also an attorney, a former Presidential Innovation Fellow, and the author of Open and Async.
