Retroarch Save Sync Not Working

What is the issue?

Playing a game through Retroarch (specifically PCSX rearmed) and am able to save locally on the device, but when pushing or pulling saves via freegosy, it gives a message saying no saves were found

Hey there thank you for reporting this! Found it — save sync was resolving the platform's globally-configured default emulator instead of whichever one you actually launched with (e.g. through the per-game picker). So if RetroArch/PCSX-ReArmed launched the game but the platform default was set to something else, sync would silently look in the wrong folder. Fixed now, save sync always uses the emulator that actually launched the game. Would be glad if you can check the pre-release!

Just gave this a try, and am now getting a "file error" message when trying to launch the same game i've been playing with freegosy on PCSX rearmed. I click on "folder" and it finds the actual game file, but refuses to launch it. When clicking on details, i get this message:

FileSystemException: Exists failed, path ='C:(path to retroarch files) (OS Error: The path cannot be traversed because it contains an untrusted mount point, erno = 448

Hey, thanks for trying it so quick! That sounds like a different issue than the save sync one though — a launch failure, not a sync failure. To track it down could you share:

• The exact text of the "file error" message (a screenshot works too)
• Whether the game is stored in its own folder (e.g. /roms/psx/Gamename/Gamename.bin) or as a single file directly in the platform folder
• If it's a multi-disc game (does a .m3u/.cue sit next to the disc file?)
• Your OS (win 10 or 11)

Also just to confirm — did this same game launch fine before trying the new pre-release, or is this the first time you're launching it since updating?

Looks like running freegosy as administrator fixed this issue and I can launch my games again. But, save sync still is not working. It still says "No Saves Found". I even tried utilizing it to make a save backup of my local save, and it is still not able to. I am using retroarch that was downloaded and set up via Emudeck (which is simply an app that streamlines mass emulator installs, but does save the emulator in an emudeck folder. Not sure if this is an issue though since Freegosy can launch my retroarch/the game no problem

The exact same game launched fine without needing to give admin permissions before trying the new pre-release

Quick update on the save sync side — turns out Freegosy never had any EmuDeck-for-Windows awareness at all, only Linux/Steam Deck. On Windows it was just doing plain RetroArch path resolution, which doesn't match how EmuDeck for Windows lays things out (%USERPROFILE%\emudeck\EmulationStation-DE\Emulators\RetroArch\saves), so it could never find your saves.

I've wired in an initial first pass: it now detects that folder directly and resolves saves/states under it, without going through the Emulation\... shortcut folder (avoids the "untrusted mount point" issue too, at least for save sync). I don't have EmuDeck for Windows installed here to fully live-test against, so this is based on EmuDeck's own docs for the Windows folder layout rather than a live run — would be glad if you can check the pre-release and let me know if it finds your saves now!

Really appreciate the quick turnaround on this! Unfortunately, this did not fix the save sync issue. Same error is coming up as before when playing the exact same game as prior. Also, I am still needing to start it in administrator to play any of my games too

Sorry for the runaround — I've been guessing at your folder layout from EmuDeck's docs instead of your actual setup, and that's clearly not good enough here. Let's get the real paths instead of me guessing again.

Could you get me:

1. What path did you set for RetroArch in Freegosy's Settings → Emulators (if you set a manual path override there), or if you didn't set one, where is RetroArch actually installed on disk?
2. The full, unredacted path from the "untrusted mount point" error — that's the exact path Freegosy is choking on, and it'll tell me exactly which folder is a junction on your system.
3. The exact path to one of your actual RetroArch save files — right-click a .srm/.mcd file next to a game you've saved → Copy as path.

That's the fastest way for me to fix both the admin-requirement issue and the save-sync issue for real this time instead of another guess. Really appreciate you sticking with this.
