Global Settings

Obs: If you are using Anki 2.1.21 or older, the Global Settings is in the last tab of the builtin Preferences dialog. The description bellow only applies for Anki 2.1.22+.

Open the Add-ons dialog, select Life Drain, then click the button Config (Default shortcut Ctrl+Shift+L).

There are 2 tabs: Basic and Bar Style.

Basic

• Enable Life Drain: Enable/disable the add-on without restarting Anki.
• Stop drain on answer shown: Automatically stops the drain after answering a card.
• Stop drain while edititing or browsing: Automatically stops the drain when opening the editor or browser. May not resume the drain automatically when closing it.
• Default initial life is 0: Life will begin at 0 instead of full. Also affects Recover.

Special action behavior (choices: Drain life, Do nothing and Recover life):

• Undo: What to do when undoing a card.
• Bury: What to do when burying a card.
• Suspend: What to do when suspending a card.

Shortcuts (now you can set it using UI!):

• Global Settings: Shortcut string to open the Global Settings.
• Deck Settings: Shortcut string to open the Deck Settings.
• Pause: Shortcut string to pause the drain.
• Recover: Shortcut string to fully recover your life.

There is no validation for your shortcut string, so edit with care! Invalid shortcuts, or already used shortcuts won't work.

Bar Style

• Invert bar movement: Reduce life from left to right instead of right to left.
• Position: Choose where to show the bar: Top or Bottom.
• Height: The height of the bar, to make it bigger or smaller.
• Border radius: Adds a rounded border to the bar.
• Style: Allow selecting some custom style to the bar (not all options may work on your platform).
• Bar color (default): The color of the bar.
• Warn threshold (%): Threshold % to show the life bar with the warn color.
• Bar color (warn): Color of the life bar's foreground (warn).
• Danger threshold (%): Threshold % to show the life bar with the danger color.
• Bar color (danger): Color of the life bar's foreground (danger).
• Text: The text shown inside the bar.
• Text color: If you chose to show text, you can select its color.
• Enable custom background color: If checked, you can choose a background color for the bar on the next field.
• Background color: If the checkbox above is checked, the color selected will be applied to the bar's background.

• Share drain across all decks: Current life will be shared between all decks.
• Maximum life: Time in seconds for the life bar go from full to empty.
• Answer recover: Time in seconds that is recovered after answering a card.
• Full recover speed: Amount to recover each second when clicking the "Recover" button in the deck overview screen. Negative values allowed. Use 0 for the default behavior: instant recovery. The recover will stop once life reaches 0, maximum, or when leaving deck overview screen.
• Enable damage: Enable the damage feature. It will be triggered when answering with 'Again'.
• New cards: Damage value on new cards.
• Learning cards: Damage value on learning cards.
• Review cards: Damage value on review cards.
