Fractional Ownership Infrastructure for Real-World Assets using Intercom

This repository explores a new model for fractional ownership of real-world assets using Intercom’s peer-to-peer infrastructure.

The initial focus is on trading cards.

Trading cards already exist at the intersection of physical and digital ownership. They are globally traded, culturally significant, and increasingly integrated into digital ecosystems. This makes them an ideal entry point for experimenting with decentralized, fractional ownership.

Instead of relying on centralized platforms, this project treats each asset as its own peer-to-peer network.

Each trading card becomes:

  • a native coordination channel
  • a replicated ownership state
  • a direct trading environment
  • and a digitally connected real-world asset

Ownership is not managed by a platform. It is coordinated directly between participants.

Why this matters

Most real-world asset platforms today are custodial and centralized.

They introduce:

  • counterparty risk
  • platform lock-in
  • limited transparency
  • and restricted user control

This project explores an alternative approach where ownership and coordination happen at the network layer itself.

Intercom provides the foundation to enable this:

  • peer-to-peer communication
  • deterministic shared state
  • decentralized coordination
  • optional value settlement

Without requiring a central authority.

Vision

Fractional ownership will fundamentally change how real-world assets are owned, accessed, and traded.

Trading cards are only the beginning.

The same model can extend to:

  • collectibles
  • watches
  • art
  • vehicles
  • energy assets
  • and other Real-World Assets (RWA)

This repository is an early step toward building infrastructure for peer-to-peer native ownership of physical assets.

This is an experimental project exploring fractional ownership using Intercom.

Trading cards were chosen as the initial use case because they already represent a strong bridge between physical objects and digital ownership. Their ongoing digitalization and active trading culture make them a natural starting point for fractional, peer-to-peer ownership models.

These fundamentals make trading cards a perfect fit for this project.

Future development will expand beyond trading cards and dive deeper into broader Real-World Asset (RWA) use cases, exploring how physical assets can become natively owned, coordinated, and traded through decentralized infrastructure.
