Documentation about valve for controlling water rewards for mouses
The electrovalve used in an SMC 12V.
The manufacturer reference is LVM10R1-6B-1-Q
It can be found on RadioSpares with product code 196-1161
(just type it in search field to get to the product directly)
Pinout :
- black : signal out (5V)
- brown : power input (12V)
- blue : power and signal common ground
-
A transistor TIP29CG (datasheet) wich is an NPN Bipolar Junction Transistor.
-
For 12V PSU/valve, with the TIP29CG as transistor, a good base resistor value is 4.7K.
-
A Diode, called in that case a flyback (or flywheel) diod, is present between + and - of the solenoid to eliminate reverse current at the establishment / stops of the switching process, due to the inductive properties of the solenoid. (generating a magnetic field that itself opposes the change of current flow in the winding that are subect to it's influence (here, the valve tiny on/off "electromagnet" that opens the valve))
