What and why?

The main issue addressed in this version of the DMMapp is the fact that the "Data" and the "Map" sections were completely disconnected: a page reload was always necessary to access one or the other. This ruined the user-experience and put quite a strain on our puny server.

Now both "Data" and "Map" live on the same page, and can easily be switched by using the tabs on top of the page.

Furthermore, the whole app is much lighter from a pure coding point of view: Less scripts, less code, less files; many scripts have been outsourced, and the whole app behaves better. The functionality has increased, but the code has decreased!

The future

We will monitor how DMMapp 2.0 behaves. We are sure there are some things that we simply have missed. After that, we'll move on to the DMMapp 3.0.

The DMMapp 2.0 sets the base for the forthcoming DMMapp 3.0, in which the metadata in the "Data" section and in the "map" section will (finally!) be exactly the same.

Please let us know if you find any bugs!

With much love,

The Sexy Codicology Team
