Persona 1:

Education: Ph.D.
Mary is a professor at the University of South Carolina, who teaches Biology 101. She is hoping to help her students out by using this application in her class. She wants students to be able to meet each other and form study groups to ensure they perform well in her class. Mary takes student success personally and wants to give her students another resource for the successful completion of her Bio 101 course. After hearing from students that they did not know anyone to study with, despite the class size being 300 people, Mary decided to use our website/application as a method to connect people.
Persona 2:
Age: 20
Foreign Exchange Student at the University of South Carolina studying public health
Maria is new to the states and looking for ways to connect with like-minded individuals. She enjoys all things science and public health. She wants to find a study group to connect with new people and grow together in her classes. She doesn't know where to start on finding a study group because she doesn't know anyone.
Persona 3:
Age: 19
Freshman Biology Student at the University of South Carolina
Emma is a motivated, hardworking student aiming for a career in healthcare. She finds biology interesting but struggles with some of the more complex concepts. Emma lives in a dorm and prefers to study in groups, as it helps her better understand difficult topics through discussion. Emma finds it challenging to connect with others in large classes, and the process of forming study groups can be intimidating.

Junior Public Health Student at the University of South Carolina
James is a junior, who is currently taking Biology 101 as a part of his Carolina Core courses, which is usually taken by Freshman's and Sophomore's. He has recently transferred from Wofford College and is new to the campus. As a junior filled in a class with younger students, James has a hard time communicating with classmates with his introverted nature and new environment, which made it difficult for him to make friends and create study groups.

Lara is taking Bio 101 as part of her Carolina Core Requirements. Despite not being a Biology major, she is determined to succeed in the course but finds it difficult to connect with classmates due to the lack of common academic interests. Living off-campus further complicates her ability to attend in-person study sessions and campus events. She also works part-time at a local restaurant to help pay for her tuition. Lara wants to improve her performance in the class through collaboration, but has struggled to find a study group with a consistent meeting time that fits within her transportation and work schedules.
