Heterotrophic respiration
Rh is the sum over carbon emissions from three carbon pools (litter,
intermediate and slow soil organic matter), for each PFT. Each pool has
an assigned turnover rate (0.3, 0.03 and 0.001 a-1 at 10°C, resp.) and decomposition rates are calculated as a function of turnover rate,
air and soil temperature and moisture. The temperature sensitivity of Rh
is an Arrhenius type function with decreasing Q10 values (Lloyd &
Taylor,
1994).
