Design Refinement Discussion: Open-Source Prosthetic Hand Design for Community Fitting
Context
We are coordinating a community prosthetic fitting initiative across the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, MA area. Our goal is to leverage open-source prosthetic design projects to improve accessibility and affordability of prosthetic devices.
Purpose
This issue is to coordinate design refinement discussions between engineers, designers, and community volunteers working on open-source prosthetic hand/arm projects. We aim to:
- Align design standards across open-source prosthetic projects (OpenBionics, Handy, r-echeverri's myoelectric arm, etc.)
- Standardize fitting protocols for community events
- Identify key mechanical/electronic improvements needed for durability, comfort, and usability
- Coordinate volunteer contributions from engineers and designers in the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area
