472-474: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winTest the two execution checks separately.
rejectChildConstructionAfterExecutionsets both a generated token andkGENERATION_IN_PROGRESS, so it cannot detect removal of either conjunct in the native eligibility guard. Add separate cases for:
- A generated token while the state remains
kCONTEXT_INIT.kGENERATION_IN_PROGRESSbefore adding a token. Each case should assert that child creation throws, no child is registered, and the parent receives no seed. The inspected Python child tests do not cover these native predicates separately.

Carry logprob mode and format, routed-expert output selection, the original EOS ID, multimodal item order, and arrival time in the request broadcast sidecar. Preserve explicit None for the original EOS ID while allowing the attribute to be absent on directly constructed executor requests. Fall back to executor.Request.position_ids when no rank-local override is supplied. Preserve direct encoder features and post-encoder output length, including token-only encoder metadata. Expose the existing native output length through a read-only Python property without changing serialized layouts. Reject duplicate encoder feature sources and conflicting output lengths instead of silently discarding an input. Add CPU regressions that pickle real requests and sidecars before reattachment and translation. Cover non-default and missing Python inputs, arrival-time response metrics, position overrides, encoder downsampling, shared child features, pause/restart, and conflicting encoder routes. The request-utils module is already included in the CPU CI test list. Validation: rebuilt and installed with run/run_build_wheel.sh --job_count 68; 409 CPU tests passed across request-utils, encoder-decoder, PyExecutor, and executor bindings (8 non-CPU tests deselected). Applicable pre-commit hooks passed. Live multi-GPU generation was not exercised. Signed-off-by: Robin Kobus <19427718+Funatiq@users.noreply.github.com>
Child creation previously retained a native parent copy while Python executed another native copy, then deep-copied every py_* attribute by name prefix. That implicitly inherited runtime events, result history, and references to previous siblings whenever a field was added to a request. Construct native children from explicit request inputs with independent mutable vectors and fresh execution state. Share tensor inputs read-only and share the sequence-group completion vector deliberately. Register the actual Python-backed child only after all Python input copying and initialization succeeds, so native and Python ownership refer to the same executing request. Keep the native createChildRequest entry point on this construction path. Replace prefix-based Python copying with explicit input policies. Preserve existing read-only encoder feature sharing and independent mutable model inputs, while initializing result storage, events, cache/transfer bookkeeping, sampler progress, and metrics from the constructor. Preserve seed derivation and group response routing. Reject late construction, duplicate identities, and invalid registration; failed copies do not consume a child slot or seed. Handle absent native draft-token storage as an empty input. Add native and CPU Python regressions for mutable input isolation, fresh state, native/Python child identity, lifetime without reference cycles, streaming/non-streaming group completion, and failed construction before and after native initialization. The Python tests use the existing CPU-listed request-utils module. Validation: rebuilt and installed with run/run_build_wheel.sh --job_count 68, regenerated binding stubs, and built llmRequestTest with 68 jobs. All 44 native request tests and 416 affected CPU Python tests passed (8 non-CPU tests excluded). Applicable pre-commit hooks passed. Model-backed and live multi-GPU generation were not exercised. Dev Engineer Review
The change separates child construction from registration. The C++ constructor creates a child with fresh execution state, and
registerChildRequestchecks eligibility before adding it to the parent’s sequence group. The Python path also initializes the child before registration, which supports failure atomicity.Request broadcasting and executor translation now preserve additional Python-owned fields. Translation uses executor
position_idswhen callers do not supply them. Audio encoder features and output length now use executor request values, with conflict checks for multimodal overrides. The bindings expose the new child constructor and registration method. They also expose native child requests and
Request.encoder_output_length. These API changes need checks for consistency between Python and native child creation. Review finding counts and final test status are unavailable from the supplied evidence.QA Engineer Review
The change adds C++ unit tests and Python tests for request broadcast, input ownership, translation, child state, sequence completion, failure handling, and object lifetime. The tests cover important behavior and error paths; coverage verdict: sufficient. The changed Python test file is under
unittest/_torch/executor, which is included by thel0_cpu.ymltest list. No exact test-function declarations were confirmed. No specific manual-QA list entry was found.Per-File QA Perspective
cpp/include/tensorrt_llm/batch_manager/llmRequest.h— Declares child construction and registration APIs. Verify callers use registration only after successful initialization.cpp/tensorrt_llm/batch_manager/llmRequest.cpp— Implements child state, ownership, sequence ordering, and registration checks. Verify rejected creation does not mutate parent state.cpp/tensorrt_llm/nanobind/batch_manager/bindings.cpp— Exposes child construction and registration, plus a read-only native-child property. Verify Python-facing behavior matches the C++ API.cpp/tensorrt_llm/nanobind/executor/request.cpp— Adds the read-onlyencoder_output_lengthproperty. Verify the value matches the underlying executor request.cpp/tests/unit_tests/batch_manager/llmRequestTest.cpp— Adds C++ coverage for input isolation, fresh child state, seed progression, and invalid child creation. This is a native unit test, not an integration-list test.tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/llm_request.py— Adds Python child construction and registration, preserves selected inputs and settings, and changes executor translation defaults and audio validation. Verify copy/share behavior and conflict errors.tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/request_utils.py— Broadens broadcasted Python attributes and addsallow_missingbehavior. Verify missing optional attributes are skipped only when that option is enabled.tests/unittest/_torch/executor/test_request_utils.py— Adds tests for broadcast round trips, translation, encoder inputs, child lifecycle, and failure handling. Theunittest/_torch/executordirectory is included intests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_cpu.yml; no explicit manual-QA entry was found.Description
