New Ship: NOV-Rosetta#3884

…d into an unreliable drone-hunting ship
|
The Dymere is restricted to the TSFMC. It is one of the meanest weapons in the entire game. Putting it on a civilian vessel, while hilarious, is very much not compliant with the ship guidelines. |
|
Gotcha, didn't see in the documentation that the Dymere was restricted to TSFM; going to test a little to see if I can find something that can replace it. Might take a while in trial and error, got any recommendation for a heavy laser mount while i start working? |
|
Apollo is the normal heavy mining laser - Dymere is restricted to station defenses |
…oved, installing two marauders and one Apollo mining beam. Decals have been added to the cockpit, walls in the xenoarcheological laboratory towards space have been updatet to plasteel.
…, having a 23% surplus to new appraisegrid value of 80k
…, this is a 23% markup from the base 80k from appraising the grid.
…o Rosetta Shipyard file has been fixed
Created as a mistake while I was trying to sync my local repo

that atmo dispo is a lil funky looking at the bottom there just hanging off the tile, and the just bare plating in the top right is funky looking something aughta go there, maybe consider additonal greebling or shaving that bit off entirely? |
… the scrubber network under a thruster on the left
You were right, that exhaust was a little misplaced, it has now been moved under a thruster on the left. |
Sounds good to me. Just don't forget to update the big image at the top when you get the chance mate! |
Sorry about that, i was in a rush this morning to take a train, managed to make new render now and updated the original post! |
|
Cleaned up the original post and updated info on the ship; made a full set of the new images as well |
|
Small updates have been made in the last couple of days, getting better decalwork into the ship and a new radar signature. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
- went a little bit too hard on the radar markings, reduce them
- Exterior looks nice, good job
- Interior looks clean too, fitting for a CIV ship
- tiles..
-
Thruster turned off, turn it on!
-
put catwalks under every thruster
Exterior plating and catwalk under turret, diags into lattice.
- Optional: add some lattice sticking out to break up the shape

| description: A science vessel built by the enigmatic "System"; the Rosetta model is a heavy duty, yet luxurious xenoarcheological ship, with enough firepower to persuade the undesired (and stationary) "customer" to leave. |

Changes have been made, let me know what you think.
(Also yeag, the semicolon was a leftover from an earlier description before I realized it was too big lmao)
…dar panels, fixed a catwalk I missed

About the PR
Added a new ship, the NOV-Rosetta, a medium-large science vessel available in any civilian shipyard
Why / Balance
Most science vessels have little space for their analyzers, having one artifact chambers, or two at most; the Rosetta seeks to give more space and freedom of movement to its local scientist by providing four artifact chambers and ample space, when canisters aren't anchored to their docking ports.
The ship is equipped with an Apollo mining beam, two marauders and L-1 phalanx laser, connected to a low power gunnery console, rendering the ship slightly more armed than the other science ships, becoming more of a deterent for the residing scientist, compared to her sisters. Technically doable for some small drone hunting, with varying results.
It has two superpacmans to power the ship with a regular SMES. Six thrusters on each side give lateral thrusts to the ship, while forward and backward thrust is supported by two thrusters and a large one . A CTLA-25 bluespace drive is installed in the ship as well so that it has about 5 kms of FTL jump. The ship also comes with three gyroscopes.
The ship was appraised at about 80k, and is purchasable at 99k, for the moment.
The cockpit of the ship is exposed and only protected by a layer of reinforced glass with griddles in them; so trying to position the ship to never reveal the weakspot will be essential if used in a fight. While the western side of the ship is protected by a plasteel layer that encompasses the artifact chambers, and should get most of the beating in a fight, since you'll want to direct the west side on any attacker thanks to the heavier firepower mounted on the catwalks.

(The other two renders are one commit older than the render, there's not many substantial changes, but still, know that)

How to test
Purchase the Rosetta from any civilian shipyard! Take it out on a flight, make some science, if you are feeling confident with the gunnery, take it out on drones, even if it's not the most reliable ship against them. Supposedly, it's made to research with a friend so you can share half of the artifact chambers with them. Or maybe you are messy, and don't like to put the artifacts in storage. Whatever works for you.
