Usage Unknown Tag Scan
uTag is able to periodically scan for Unknown Galaxy Tags and warn you if it thinks you may be being tracked. Similarly to SmartThings, there are some criteria which must be met for the Tag to be considered to be tracking you:
- The Tag must be disconnected from its owner for over 24 hours
- The Tag must have been detected at multiple locations, over 500 metres apart, over a period of at least 30 minutes
If uTag detects a Tag that it thinks is tracking you, and the option is enabled, it will display a notification warning you. You can then either take further action by running a scan in SmartThings, locating the Tag and removing its battery (SmartThings will guide you through this), or mark it as safe. Marking a Tag as safe will mean that you don't get notified again, while the Tag has the same identifer.
Note: If the Tag has its battery removed and replaced, or up to 24 hours pass and it does not reconnect to its owner, its identifier will reset and you may be notified again. This is not a bug, it is how the Tags are designed to work - either the owner needs to connect to the device (being reunited with it if necessary), or the battery should be removed.
