What is Life Essence

Life Essence is a magic energy system added by Blood Magic, it exist in 2 forms :

  • Liquid life essence, the "blood" you produce in the blood altar by using a ritual or a sacrificial dagger. This is a simple fluid so this is already supported by Modular Machinery.
  • Life Points, this is life essence that have been absorbed in a player's Soul Network through a Blood Orb. LP are private to a player and the max amount a player Soul Network can stock is defined by the tier of the blood orb the player used.

With this mod, you can create a machine that drain LP dirrectly from a player Soul Network to function, you can also fill the player Soul Network with LP.

Implementation :

First you need a Life Essence hatch (added by this addon), there is 2 type :

  • Life Essence Input Hatch if you to take LP from the Soul Network to the machine.

  • Life Essence Output Hatch if you want to put LP from the machine to the Soul Network.

Note that you can put the two types of hatches on the same machine to consume and produce LP.

Those hatches have 1 inventory slot for a bound blood orb, once the machine start working, it will consume/produce LP from/to the blood orb owner soul network. If the slot is empty or the blood orb is unbound, the machine will not start working. If there is not enough LP in the soul network, the machine will not start working, however if the soul network is full, the machine will continue to work but no more LP will be produced.

For the recipe json, this is the requirement pattern :

type : The type of the requirement, "lifeessence" for LP requirement.

io-type : The input/output type.

essenceamount : Amount of LP that will be consumed/produced each time the recipe is completed.

essencepertick : Amount of LP that will be consumed/produced each tick when the machine is working.

Note that you can't specify both "essenceamount" and "essencepertick" !

Examples :

Recipe that use 100LP per tick to produce 1000rf/t : pastebin
