This PR is a successor to #334, aiming to implement support for PHP 8.4. I’m perfectly fine with closing this PR if @connorhu decides to update his PR instead. To get the tests working, no significant adjustments were required; however, I anticipate that running a real p roject under PHP 8.4 will likely trigger several deprecation warnings.
