Problem

This repository was transferred from DSACMS to GSA-SHARE-IT, but the site and docs still pointed at DSACMS URLs and carried CMS branding: the DSACMS logo, the HHS/CMS identifier and its required links, and CMS as the owning organization. Several of these were flagged in the review of #21

Solution

URLs

  • Point repository, issues, clone, SBOM, and contributor badge links at GSA-SHARE-IT/index-generator-website
  • Point the live site URL at https://gsa-share-it.github.io/index-generator-website/ (README, CONTRIBUTING, code.json homepageURL)
  • Point the gov-codejson glossary link at GSA-SHARE-IT/gov-codejson

Ownership

  • code.json: organization is now "General Services Administration", contact.name "GSA SHARE IT Team", group GSA/SHARE-IT, and the cms-ospo tag is now gsa-share-it
  • README Agency Mission uses GSA's mission statement; Team Mission and Codeowners name the GSA SHARE IT team
  • Site title and footer name the GSA SHARE IT team
  • Drop the cms-oss and cms-gov labels from the repolinter PR

Site branding

  • Replace the HHS/CMS identifier with a text-only GSA identifier: "An official website of the U.S. General Services Administration", with GSA's required links (About GSA, Accessibility statement, FOIA, No FEAR Act, OIG, Performance reports, Privacy policy), taken from gsa.gov's own identifier
  • Remove the DSACMS header logo and favicon, and delete the dsacms, cms-white, and hhs-white SVGs
  • Rename the --cms-* CSS variables and .cms-* classes to neutral names, and remove the unused logo styles and colors

Still CMS, and how to switch each to GSA

These were kept on purpose and we should decide how to change them. Each item lists exactly what would change.

Item Where Switch to
Contact email opensource@cms.hhs.gov Site footer, README (Feedback, Open Source Policy), CONTRIBUTING, CODE_OF_CONDUCT, code.json contact.email A shareit.gov or GSA address once one exists
CMS Open Source Policy README and CONTRIBUTING "Open Source Policy" GSA Open Source Policy (source)
Bugcrowd cms-vdp README, CONTRIBUTING, SECURITY.md https://bugcrowd.com/engagements/gsa-vdp
SECURITY.md intro and HHS Disclosure Policy SECURITY.md "The General Services Administration is committed to...", plus a link to the GSA Vulnerability Disclosure Policy. gsa.gov also lists this policy in its identifier, so it could be added as an eighth required link
Linking policy (DSACMS/ospo-guide) Site footer GSA website policies
Project member affiliations (CMS OSPO) COMMUNITY.md GSA SHARE IT

Still in DSACMS (not transferred)

  • The "CLI Tool" nav link and code.json relatedCode point to DSACMS/codejson-index-generator
  • Workflows use DSACMS/repo-scaffolder, DSACMS/repolinter-action, and DSACMS/automated-codejson-generator. Per review, we keep using the DSACMS maturity models for now.

Open questions

  • code.json follows the CMS schema (subsetInHealthcare, maturityModelTier). gov-codejson has no GSA schema yet.
  • The identifier is text only. A GSA logo can be added once an official asset is chosen.

Result

The site and docs point at GSA-SHARE-IT, and the site carries a GSA identifier with GSA's required links. Everything that still references CMS is listed above with its GSA replacement.

Test Plan

To verify manually:

  1. Open index.html in a browser
  2. Generate an index for GSA-SHARE-IT and check the download and counts
  3. Check that the footer identifier and its links go to gsa.gov
